Hey all

I dont have any time to chat right now but wanted to update you on the job saga!

So I never signed the contract! I told them as soon as they were available that I was pregnant (Around 11AM Monday morning), and they were very shocked and said they had to discuss with the agency what this means as they cannot afford to place someone again for 4 months when I've only been there for 4.
So an entire day went where I continued training and in the end at around 4:20PM I got called by the agent to say they are withdrawing the contract offer.
So ja its back to the drawing board for me!!!

But in hindsight I'm rather glad about it.
It's a very small company who have very specific ideas about how things are done. They want someone who can always be there 8-5 without the likelihood of taking off for sick kids or going off for doctors appointments during the day etc and they were already nervous about me taking off if K was sick.
Plus due to the size of the job I was already bored on the first day of training. They had practically trained me up on everything already, and we were meant to do that for 2 weeks!

So based on this experience and getting some advice from a labour consultant, it's probably going to be best for me to take a contract position for now, and try have that happen at a big company who will try and find me something permanent or continue with the contract in Jan or Feb once maternity leave is up.
I am really looking for something where the company understands my needs as a parent. If my child is sick I need to be able to take her to the doctor. Or if I need to go for scans etc then I need that flexibility once a month.
To have started off under such pressure of hoping children dont get sick was just not going to work and so in the end its for the better.

Kaylee has been sick again since last Friday! GP put her on a mild antibiotic and stuff for her nebulizer. But it gradually got worse. Sunday and Monday were pretty bad. So took her to paed yesterday who gave stronger antibiotics and said to give only suppositories for the fever management. He took her temp and I thought it was still relatively mild but was already at 38.9deg. I dont want to know what it'd be at when it was at its worse, but I'm guessing 41+!!!
Yesterday afternoon she had an awful temperature which just wouldnt subside, even with the sups it took 2hours! I eventually bathed her in lukewarm water with rooibos tea in it and then she slept naked on my chest while her fever broke. Eventually at 5 it was better, and by the time daddy got home after 6pm she was her normal self!
Touch wood she didnt have any fevers last night which is usually when its bad and still nothing this morning. So hoping this means we're on the mend!
I dropped her off at daymom at just past 9am and will fetch her after lunch cos its around 2 that we normally start to struggle.
On the way to daymom we stopped to look at cows and ostriches. She absolutely loved it!

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Shame man Robyn! Good luck with the sanding - it's the pits. Try find a sanding company that do dust free sanding. It's a special machine. We're still cleaning dust off everything...

Kerry - what a cute pic! Evan weighs 12.5kg now - weighed him yesterday..

Still not over this freaking flu / sinusitus. :( it's just not going away even though I finished my abs.

Girly, how was your first day? How did they react to your pregnancy news?

I find Jet clothes are tiny and WW is huge! but even ackermans size 18-24 pants are looking short! so sorry to hear you are feeling awful, hope you feel better soon.

Hi Ladies

I'm sick as a dog!!!! :S
Had such a bad weekend :(

We had about 6 tiles in our lounge that felt abit hollow, so we thought we would lift them up, fill them and
re-stick them now, so it's all done when we get tenants in and move into our other house
So on Sat morning, we move the furniture and the house literally came alive!! :swear:
Not sure if the couch was keeping the tiles down and the cold temperature, but the tiles starting lifting on
their own!!! It was like a giant snake was slithering beneath the tiles and lifting them one by one until
we ended up lifting all the tiles in the lounge, diningroom, passage etc!!!
What a nightmare!! I had to take D out for the day because the dust was unbearable (our entire house was covered in white dust!)
We got a tiler in yesterday to tile but now all our stuff is in the bedrooms - no space at all!
Plus I haven't slept - am so sick - can't breath, sinuses are soooo blocked and sore :(
And I can't even the day off as my 1 boss is overseas and is sending me sms's to do so much work for him!
But at least we have our scan tom to look forward to!

JB - thankfully we are going to be staying in our current house while the renovations are
happening in our other house and will only move in once everything is done and then rent
out the other house (we're re-doing the kitchen, breaking thru t the diningroom and re-tiling
the house - we also have parquet flooring which we will sand & repair)

Kerry - D wears a 5 or 6 shoe and has various clothes - between 12/24m and 2-3 years!
it really depends on the make of clothing - some are small makes, some are big

Oh i forgot... K also wears size 6 shoes... 7 if she needs socks. (huge feet) weighs just over 11.5kgs

The size two pants are too loose in the waist, but the 18-24mnth are too short so she's pretty much wearing 2-3 clothes now... tops have to be 2-3 as the smaller barely make it over her head, which upsets her immensely.

Cols - :-) i wish K would come to our bed when she wakes up in the morning... she just sits up and cries until DH goes and takes her to watch TV in the lounge. Even though she can easily get out of the bed herself!

When k was little she was still on breastmilk until just after 1 and we would have to pack her bottles every night, it was so nice when she went onto formula just to give the creche teacher two bottles and a tin of formula to hang on to, we just spoke to the teacher and told her we are sorry but she doesn't even have a daytime bottle at home so please be reasonable at which point she said but everytime she sees the younger children have bottles she wants one... and now she has decided to give K tea instead, which is working amazingly well, and with the only having one nap in the day she goes to bed just so much easier at night.

Regarding the dummy...yes and no... at creche the teacher has banned K's dummy, and she naps with just her linus blanket and a bottle... meaning as soon as she sees me she is desperate to have the dummy... I give it to her she sucks it in the car on the way home... (not even 5 minutes) and then when she gets home she hands me the dummy and linus blanket and thats it till bed time. At bed time she has a bath, then lies in bed and has a 225ml nido bottle while i read to her (currently the BFG), when i have read maybe 4 pages i get up take the empty bottle hand her her dummy and dudu, tuck her in and go. She then has a 140ml bottle at 4am... well used to be 4am, then she dropped it al together and now since this sleep thing she seems to be desperate to have it at 2am? so i think i may have to start weaning that one out.

She doesn't have a bottle in the day when she is with us, but as creche took away her dummy they give her a bottle to put her down for her daytime nap... I just feed her lunch and then go lie in bed with her for a few moments. Though on saturday she found her old stage 0 baby seat... and put it in the lounge, turned on the tv and sat in it watching garfield... next time i looked she was fast asleep. (spent friday night at granny's so i think she may have been crashing from pure exhaustion and coming off a sugar/caffiene high)

Regarding discipline,,, well we have struck it lucky... i think... all you need do is tell k no and she bursts into tears... at wich point i pick her up and cuddle her for a few moments. problem being sometimes you feel bad making her that upset just to stop her doing little things...

Girly - I know what you mean about them sleeping in your bed... K is such an active sleeper no one gets to sleep... we have a little yorkixrussel and if i put K in the bed she immediately hops out and goes to sleep in K's bed...

Good luck on your first day and FX that little one is better soon! :-)

Wow sorry girls... marathon post...
