Hi Robyn :)

oohh any day now - been following your thread too!! I havent had a baby but I am a midwife. When your waters break there are hind waters and forewaters. Hind waters usually seep out slowly, like a trickle, and sometimes when the midwife does the internal, she will say your waters are still intake. this is because the waters have broken at the top by your ribs and not at the bottom by the cervix so it is trickling out.
Forewaters break by the cervix and depending how well applied the babys head is against the cervix, will depend if it trickles out or gushes out.

I know this doesnt really give you the answer you want!! But you can expect anything from a trickle to a gush! if you are unsure, wear a sanitary pad and see how long it takes you to change the pad, and if it is just damp, or soaking wet

Hi ladies

Sorry to hi-jack - my baby is only due next Tues, but I am wanting some advice from new moms (all the ladies I know have had Caesars)
Have any of you had natural?
I wanted to find out about your water breaking - did it gush out and then stop or did it run out slowly and for how long?

As you can probably tell, this is my first baby and I'm a bit terrified - don't want to stray too far from home in case it happens while at the shop or something

Thanks ladies

Finally! The site's up and running again. Hope you ladies had a lekker weekend. I'm sorry about breakfast falling through. We'll have to make a plan once everyone's back from the sea! Bronz, how was the wedding?

Bronz, it's not so bad being back at work because I'm working from home, but it's going to suck going in to the office!

Who's coming to breakfast? Just Bronz, Desiree and me? Bronz, whereabouts will you be in Joburg - we can find some place that's central.

Bronz - the outfit you have on Graeme in the pic, that is meant to be a tighter fit I think, Luke has many of those bodyvests and they are snug fitting, or he is just chubby :-) I found the leggings to be a bit long at first but now he fits into them.

ScribblingAl - yip still exclusively breastfeeding so will see what the paed says at the end of the month.

Claudia_B - Luke also fights sleep, he complains before he falls asleep, so you not the only one.

This last week James had been a nightmare baby. Its killing me... he screams whenever he starts to get tired and we fight to get him to sleep. He used to be so easy - just calm him down and put him in his cot with just last thing in the evening I had to rock him a little. Now he wont even let us rock him! Its so frustrating.. he is happy and as soon as he starts showing siins of being tired (rubbing eyes usually comes first) I try to get him down. I feel like he just hates sleep at the moment. Am trying very hard to get my old baby back before the full time nanny starts and has an absolute nightmare:(

I've decided to do the baby led weaning method of introducing solids. I know its not everyones cup of tea, but after investing in the book on it, the dietician who wrote it makes a lot of valid points with regards to normal development, and I figure that none of the other primates puree food to gie to their babies, so why should I. However the method means I have to wait untill he is able to effectively grasp and bring an object to his mouth as well as sit unupported, wich is usually only at about 6 months anyway. The method also advocates continued demand feeding for as long as is neccesary (transitioning to relying on solids for sustanance is usually a gradual process). I like the idea of breastfeeding for longer, because I love the bonding time - and it means James is a baby baby for a bit more too! I have been looking at my diet as a result and am having to make some drastic changes:)

Have started my training for the 2 oceans today and almost died (after just 2 km). cant believe how lazy and unfit I have gotten. No wonder I look like a fat middle aged woman.

Also have finally booked our tickets to Glasgow for Christmas. We are flying emerits because it had the least stopovers, but its still 10 hours from Durban to Dubai and 8 to Glasgow. Feeling a bit nervous about travelling with James, but I know his granny and grandpa will be so happy to have him there for christmas!

Come to think about it, it is mainly the Edgars clothes. But even some of the Woolies stuff looks a little tight. I will put up a pic. You can see there is a tiny bit pf growing room but not much for another 2 kilos worth of growth.

ScribblingAl thats a really good site. I must book mark it.
I wanted to ask how is it going being back at and with the nanny?

The photo does not seem to be showing up for some reason. Here is the link:
