@ scribblingal, I think Ive tried them all (even the pep R7 jobs) he just pulls a face and spits them out (he once even choked on one). Its actually not been too bad. Today he actually fell asleep on his own in the cot without a fight (something he has never done before during the day (he goes to sleep on his own at night but during the day its always been a fight))

1st Timer, well done on the 8 - 5 sleeps. Hope James keeps it up!

Claudia_B, what dummy are you using? Emily hates Nuk and the Avent ones keep hitting her nose, but she loves the Mam ones. Sometimes it's just the shape of the dummy that they don't like.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share - for those of you whose babas are not sleeping through yet I would highly recommend using pampers premium at night. We have started using them (only at night) and James has slept 8-5 straight both nights in a row! And they're actually not that much more expensive. R145 for 62 vs Pampers Active is R160 for 72.

Hi everyone

@Meags, just take it easy. My first trimester I felt tired all the time - I used to nap every afternoon when I got in from work. I'm sure it will get better (the rest of my pregnancy was great, I evendid a 20km hike when I was 16weeks)

@ Beansmom, shame that sucks./ WHat is the new venture you are going for?? Starting out o your own is scary, but if things work out its great to be your own boss.

Saw a few patients yesterday. It felt really weird and my brain felt like it was full of cottonwool, but am sure that I'll ge back into the swing of things quickly. Havent been back into the NICU yet, but I hope it wont be hard now that I hav my own little one:)

I have finally given in and given up with the dummy. James hates it, ao I will just be the humen dummy. Hopefully h will start to self soothe in he next few weeks with his taglet.

@ScribblingAl - Yes - the same company that hadn't paid my UIF or TAX for the last however many years... but I did manage to get them to backpay my UIF - thank goodness! So I can claim that for a couple of months, the small amount I'll get will help a little.
I'm pleased about being able to be home with Tayla longer - just stressing about the money!

Luckily as I said before - hubby did ok over the World Cup so has given me 4 months to get my business going... So the nanny starts end of this month twice a week which will give me time to do marketing and get deliveries and all that done...

I did my UIF through Moms UIF Assist - so far it has been submitted and I've been told another 2 weeks and I should have the moola! Holding thumbs!

Oh, Desiree, I'll be at home for three months. I'm really hoping that it will go so swimmingly that they tell me to stay at home. Fat chance, I'm sure, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and am determined to do my best. I'll need a nanny. So far I've done bugger all about finding one. Have contacted an agency, but that's as far as I've gone.

Beansmom, I wanted to ask about the retrenchment. Can't you claim UIF? Or was it your company that wasn't paying the UIF? Porridge brain here can't remember. I finally went to the UIF offices yesterday and it was such a pleasure! There were a few people in front of me in the queue but there were chairs and the woman behind the counter was so friendly and helpful. I had to go back to the bank because the woman there had made a mistake on the form (and they don't accept it if you make a mistake on the form - beware), but all in all it took about 30 mins and I didn't need half the stuff I thought I needed. I had read all these horror stories online and went there armed with payslips and certified copies of IDs and birth certificates and all sorts of other things that weren't needed. So hopefully in four weeks I will have mega-millions paid into my bank account ;)
