Shew 3 girls due in July wowee!!! And then its Belaine and then me and then KLK shew! Cmon girls keep em coming!
Lucy I would absolutely love to become a personal shopper. I do it a lot for friends on a budget but would be awesome to do it for the rich and famous who have money to spend!
Regarding c-sections I can join that club too! Shew anyone ever gone natural on here?
Mine was 'elective' but not by my choice. Kaylee made that choice for me, she never turned and the umbilical cord was wrapped twice around her neck. She came out bum first which was interesting!
My actual C-sec experience was really good although if I do it again there's a few things I'd like to have done differently but sometimes the doctors or nursing staff are not negotiable on that.
The spinal block went well, and I numbed very quickly. And also took a couple hours after the birth to come back to life.
I would have loved for baby to kangacare with me in the recovery room but I dont think the hospital will allow that. Thankfully she was with her daddy for all of this time.
I came out of recovery just as visiting hours started and had the parents and inlaws waiting to meet Kaylee. But it meant there was a lot of pressure to get her breastfed and that wasn't lekker. Luckily she did latch almost immediately which was a great help but next time I'd rather have the family come in for the evening visit if I have an afternoon c/sec. And in hindsight they tend to allow grandparents outside of visiting hours on the day baby arrives.
I will still use the same hospital and gynae unless we pick up any heart issues at the 23 week fetal assessment in which case we will go to Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital where they are ready and equipped to deal with heart defects in newborns.
I had my pain medication drip put into the bend of my arm by my request as I really cant stand that needle in my hand, its beyond uncomfortable.
But they didnt inform me before the time that that would be a positional drip, iow you have to keep your arm straight for the meds to work.
So I had this awesome pethidine pump but it wasnt working cos my arm was bent, and so when they eventually told me to straighten my arm I almost passed out from about 3 doses of pethidine!
So next time I will just grin and bear and have the drip needle placed in my wrist/hand. I must say having the pethidine pump is really cool cos you can pump every 7 minutes to manage your own pain continuously.
I had a nurse try and give me a suppository orally. I eventually had her read the instructions on the box to convince her that its a suppository and not for oral use.
But my worse C/Sec experience by far is that a nerve was caught while stitching me up, and so for the entire time that I had stitches, an entire week, I was in excruciating pain and the gynae gave me Synape Forte which is an insanely strong drug and currently banned in SA due to its addictive nature.
I would really like to try a VBAC but havent raised the topic with the gynae to date.
I will chat to him once in 3rd trimester as there's no point talking about it until we see how baby is lying and likelihood of her turning.
Provided baby is lying nicely, heart is healthy and no c/sec scarring that is the major reason for repeat c-secs, I would definitely make a request to go natural this time around.
Sorry for my long post, I dont always get chance!
