Shrew, if you get a new anesthetist you must mention this to them. This is the most important difference between a spinal block and epidural. A spinal block being one shot, quick onset and out your system quickly too. But if there is a problem then can not "top up" and need to be put under. An epidural is via a catheter into spine and can be topped up. It takes longer to kick in and out but can be topped up. There is also less one sided numbness with the block!!! But perhaps for you an epidural would be best if you didn't react well to the block. I know some doctors combine the 2 perhaps that is also maybe the way to go for you. Unfortunately you were an extremely rare exception!
Sorry if you already know all this xx

Hi there ladies

Wow, so many pregnant ladies in our group! Can't believe that we will see newborn pics again soon!

Shrew, seems like just yesterday you found out you are pregnant. What's the date of your section? Seems like we are missing each other on fb in a way?

Hi to all the other ladies. I got a laptop now (dh busy installing everything), so I will be on more and share some pics soon.

Nadia is having her second scan next week wed. I do hope both babas gas heartbeats then... Can you believe that its been 6 months since their baba passed away....

Anyways, time for Gerhardts morning nap, and then I have to hang 3 loads of washing.

Klk - awesome - woo hoo 2 weeks!!! Yes I told him and he wanted to knock me out completely. So will be asking for a different anethetist for sure :)

Lucy - I will ask her, I am going again on Sat for my business plan (Have an awesome ideas for moms and dads and have decided to get my a into g finally) Would prefer not coming back to work and starting my own thing asap. But I will ask her I promise :) She was telling me about a baby (2 years) that has had her pyloric valve shut so she will never vomit (can you imagine morning sickness for her?) and she is horrified that they did it. As I said to Klk - thats why the birth experience was traumatic for me feeling the pain afterwards and I knew that I shouldn't have been and started panicking. Oh well lesson learned I guess.

Belaine - I understand :( its very hard watching people be so destructive in relationships. Do not stress about how you are going to deliver, baby really decides right at the end anyway. Just be super informed about both and good luck :) :) Do get yourself a fantastic breastfeeding book from La Leche League - SO worth it! My lg is really quiet, but when she does kick WOW is an understatement! Be prepared that your lo will be the same outside of the womb :)

How is everyone else doing?

Dinky - I am all good, no complaints just working, studying and being I guess. Our room is ready (my dh needs to put up the panel heater, and I am waiting for some items to arrive via tracking) other than that I am ready (ok again except my hospital bag which will take me 5 min and I have a list on the fridge for my hubby.) Have another weeks worth of dinners to make (this week), exam next Monday and that is it. How is your planning coming along?

4 m/c's: 1 2003; Sept 2009 twins; Dec 2009; May 2010.

April 20 2011 c-section - Rowan 3.18kg (My Clexane miracle)
14 July 2012 c-section - Gemma 2.9kg (My total surprise miracle)

Hi there

i here you all thats just the thing we have been friendly with her greeted her but she is having a really bitchy attitude!! I do feel sorry for her Jacques would have been 20 this week. she dont realize she is pushing everyone away.. even her other son and dh.
And being very rude to her customers she is going to be the reason no one want to do business with them and whats gonna happen then since the co is paying for most of there personal stuff. ag im just concentrating on my my lo and dh.

Ja nearly there its amazing how many wants us to wait to know which team. Dh aunt said today why i want to know and why do i think its a lg she thinks i dont want to have a boy i said its because the dr said with the prev scan its a lg.

Well if we cant see tues then we will have to wait i guess and if its a boy then we will also have to wait for another scan to confirm a boy so we actually might end up waiting till the end.

lo very active...

Klk wow you are almost in your 2nd trimester well done!!

Lucy, klk and shrew you all had c sec? im also two minded about birth really havent made my mind up!!
The only thing i have set my mind on is that i want to bf, if possible using pampers and johnsons and tommee tippee.

Enjoy the rest of your sunday!! although having a peacefull weekend i did a lot of washing, winter bedding, clothes and towels so our bed is now so cozy with the winter sheets.

Take care

Shrew, I had no pain either and I had some complications too. Your epidural/spinal block may have started to wear off. Wow, did you tell your anesthetist?

I must agree with Shrew, Belaine about your DH's boss' wife. I can only imagine what she must be going through. I hope never ever to be in her position.

How are the rest of you doing?

11 weeks today. 2 more to go then out of the danger period! :woohoo:

Shrew, no ways!!! I had absolutely no pain. I even had a major hemorrhage, lost loads of blood and required some special vacuum drain. I felt nothing!! In fact my cut never hurt even after. The drain site was bloody sore days 2 and 3 though.
Would your reflexologist be able to recommend someone in Durbs, preferably northern parts. I would love to try that route. Thanks for the idea!

Dinky, I think you have the right attitude! I am so about a positive birth experience and that is different for everyone. Good luck with finding yours!

Belaine, I think that Shrew had some very wise words for you. Have a lovely restful weekend.

belaine – you getting excited for your next apt? wanna find out what team already!!!

Lucy - I share your frustration!!! Such a cute pic!

Klk – thanks for the pic. Absolutely amazing!

Debbie – we are waiting patiently for your BFP! Good luck with this journey – we are all there to support you every step of the way!

Mom2B – Glad that DH is getting more involved. Mine is too - So exciting!

Shrew – how you keeping?

To everyone else – I hope you are all well

AFM: not much to tell. Can’t wait for my next apt – seems like it has been ages!!! Hoping DH finishes the nursery furniture this weekend so I can get started on my bit :-) Booked my bed on Monday, not taking a private room coz it’s R400 a day and I think I will enjoy the company since DH is only taking his leave when I go home – makes better sense to us. Still undecided about c-sec vs. natural and my doc seems hesitant to commit one way or the other. She did say if Emily is closer to 3kgs she thinks c-sec will be better as I am quite small. For now though Emily is small so we wait and see...I have my concerns about both but am trying not to get myself too worked up about it – what will be will be. If it is c-sec it will be the 18th of July – only a week earlier than her due date – it’s Madiba’s birthday too which I think is quite cool but trying not to get too attached to the date ;)

Anyhoo…have an awesome weekend ladies and I will try pop in again next week
