Mistymom - I also started solids at 4 months. For the first week or so I gave her rice cereal then went over to maize. I use the nestum cereal and mix it with ebm.
At 5 months I started veggies. I cook once a week and freeze into those avent storage cups. I steam all the veggies. But use either sweet potato or butternut as a base and then add small bits of other veg in too.
At 6 months I started adding protein (chicken) to the veggies. She is looooving her food.

So for breakfast she gets Nestum, lunch- chicken, veg and rice and a few spoons of yogurt if she's being fussy with her veg, and dinner she has maize meal porridge.
I've also given her marie biscuits here and there which she loves. And she's got a safety chew net (the best invention ever!!) Which I put cubes of fruit in as snacks to knaw on. She loves strawberries.
Its boiling hot here today and I know they say that breastmilk has all the water requirements for a baby. But I thought I'd give Amelia some water in a straw sippy cup today. She sucks beautifully!! But then spits it out all over the place :)

Karin - so glad you had a better night. I'm sure there is also a growth spurt at 6 months?!? So maybe it could have been that.

Helloooo! :)

So quick update (my nunu is napping!! Whoo-hoo!) :P

Thank you so much to Meags and to MistyMom for their advice!!
So last night went soooo much better, seriously. I know now I am on the right path with the sleep training and yes its darn hard sometimes when I need to leave her to cry but it's so working!!

I put Kiana to bed at 8h00 ... (which is WOW to me already cause this mommy is used to nothing earlier than 10h00 usually)
She went quietly, sleepy but awake and no crying. :cheer: (I fed her first, b/feed)
She slept until 12h00 (!!) another WOW... and woke for a feed, not crying, just "calling" basically. So I fed her and she went back in the bed awake, but sleepy. Patted her bum a little and off she went to la-la land.
She slept till about 4h20 and woke again - I think she would have slept longer but she woke with a very blocked nose and had trouble breathing - so I fed her again.
Fell asleep easily again, but woke about 20min later. :(
Me think the nose is the culprit... *sigh*
Had trouble getting her back to sleep then, had to let her cry a bit after an hour or so of struggling. She fell asleep again (deep sleep I mean) at about 6h30 and then slept till 9h30!
So... All this means to me that its slowly but surely working!!
Work in progress still, but I think we will get there.

MistyMom - Ive started solids (Rice cereal at 4months with K) She wasnt that interested yet, but I continued small amounts just to get her used to the taste and tecture. She didnt eat that much, but still got some of it. Then after about a week or so I pureed some Pears and Apples for her and gave her some of that too, she kinda liked that more.
Now about two weeks ago (she's 6 months today) she started getting REALLY eager over her food. She recognises her bowls and spoons and gets excited when I start with it. She opens her mouth before I'm even ready, LOL. Its just too cute. She's eating very well now and some days three times a day. A very hungry baby all of a sudden. Rice cereal in the morning, Butternut or Fruit (pureed, I make it all homemade) at lunch and then again either Butternut, carrot or Fruit (apple or pear) at dinner time.

Tazzy - HI! :P I've pureed some chicken last week for K and gave it to her with Carrot and Potato and a bit of Pear for taste, she ate it, but then she got constipated for three days, poor babe, so Im now not too sure if it was the Chicken, too much for her just now. Im giving it a few days more then will try it again. I've frozen her food in Ice Trays and the cubes is in bags in the freezer, so I can use them anytime.

Okay, I'm hearing little madam awakening, better go see.
Talk again soon!

Rakkler I bought them at the baby indaba in CT...Karin found them online last night at kalahari.

Ya I guess I am lucky...not sure if it will stay like that re sleeping...maybe as teething gets worse he may wake up more in the night? I do consider myself lucky that it is only one night feed and has been for a while!

YES  it is nice that our thread seems to be alive and kicking again.
