Good morning all my dear Moomie friends!
I’m SO excited about Cathm’s baby being born today! Feeling all emotional again hehe!
Aai Meags, your husband really misbehaved with the anniversary thing!! Can’t believe any man can be that inconsiderate! I would have been damn cross with him too!!
I’m finally back at work today. Still feeling a bit feverish and pap and my cough is still quite bad, but I didn’t feel ill enough to stay at home and besides I can’t afford to lose more hours.
We had the most amazing session at Panorama Medi Clinic on Sat morning! They had lovely goodie bags, very interesting sessions on child safety and CPR, sleep training and general useful baby tips plus breastfeeding. Then they had a lucky draw with some lovely prizes and finally they took us on a tour of the maternity and paediatric wards. Hubby and I were both very lucky, I got a lovely heart tin with my favourite choccies (Whispers) and he got the biggest prize of the day: a LOVELY little cane bed for baby! (See pic below.) We saw it standing there and still said we wonder if we could get a stand like it has for our Moses basket so that baby can sleep next to the bed for the first few months (the sleep training lady recommended that baby sleeps next to mom’s bed for the first 4 months) and there he goes and wins it! We were SO excited!! My mom offered to make a nice cover and bedding for it.
We got some really nice tips about babies. One of which was around the temperature of the room – the lady said people always put panel heaters in the baby’s room and then it is way too hot and becomes a breeding place for germs. It should NOT be more than 18 to 19 degrees. You need to “warm the baby, not the room”. Also, she said the room must be dark – pretty logical actually if you think about it, so we went and got a blind and hubby put it in yesterday. He also finished painting the cot, adapted the compactum (it was way too high) and added the bear border courtesy of Mistymom and Game.

So now, a week after my baby shower and tantrum about the room which was not getting done, the room is actually complete! I am super happy about that!
