Hi Ladies

Fashaway, hehe, I had a funny image of you having baby in cable car, but hopefully that won't be necessary. Wow, sounds like you have wonderful friends and family - glad you enjoyed the babyshower.

Kimika, ooooh sounds like you are next. Hope you are able to move your wax. Shame, poor hubby.

Meags, hope you and hubby had a lovely dinner.

Betty, that sounds like a great plan. We are having our hospital tour on Valentines day...hehehe....but accept for that we are staying home as well.

Hi ladies

What a lovely evening we had in CT.

Jessica- sorry to hear the heat is getting to you. It gets so difficult. Luckily most days I am in an air conditioned office. And at home I sit by a fan. In my last pregnancy, I felt the heat worse. I remember going to the shops and just hanging out by the cold grudges.lol
Let us know what the gynae says. For me the gynae has never booked me off. I just decided when I felt I wanted to start my maternity leave. If he books you off - does that come off ur sick leave?

Anje- glad you had a wonderful shower. Hope you are feeling better. Not nice to feel sick at this stage.
I did the antenatal classes for first birth. I was so pleased that I did. As I had researched everything about my planned natural birth. I ended up having a c-section and it was great that I was informed and prepped for that.

Hi fawhaway- it's been ages, glad you are doing well. I can just imagine the headlines re the cable car- time for your maternity leave to start..
I hope you have a wonderful break in fishhoek. My dad lived there when I was little and I have such fond memories of the sleepy little town.

I know I may sound stupid. But what is hypnobirthing all about? Is it similar to meditation?

Kimika- so exciting for you! Sounds like you will be next and very soon! I had the blood and M came 3 days later. I don't think you will make it for the brazillian.

Meags- glad you can't be blamed for the laptop. Did you have a good evening celebrating DH birthday. Enjoy this time together. After to LO arrives it is so difficult to spend alone time together.

I asked DH to get a Dvd for Valebtines, I see eat, pray, love it out.... And we will just stay in and watch the Telly...

Mom to Matthew, born 8 March 2008
baby girl due 29 April 2011

Kimika it sounds like things are definitely happening for you!! Sounds like your mucous plug (show) that you are having (the blood tinged stuff!) yippee!!!!!!!!

as for the laptop...well I didnt break this one thank God. The battery is gone (which apparently is normal and needs to be replaced every 2-3 years). but I have broken 2 of DH's laptops already!!!!!!!

oohh I'll have to catch up properly tomorrow. it's DH's birthday and we're going out to dinner now.

Oh yes...didnt do maternity shoot as it was raining (can you believe it!) so doing it tomorrow afternoon

Karin, glad your little girls is still growing well. Hey those damn bladder infections.. thats what I thought I had! Take some citro soda aswell.. in fact, its actually good to take a dose every day until baba comes, as a precaution.

Tazzy, have I still got your email adress? I have them saved so can mail them forsure :) Awww the nursery is soooo cute!!! Well done and I have to say it was worth the wait :) Bump is looking great too.. lukcy you still have a normal looking bump that hasnt dropped!

Mistymom, for sure Ill draw up a list with the cell numbers. I dont have the BB pins as I dont ahve one.. boohoo! Does anyone mind me posting their numbers again? Then Ill post a list tomorrow morning.

Joli, thanks again for today!! Hubby is already excited to see the pics ;) Cant wait for our newborn shoot and to then see Callum.. Jitte I was so dumb today, I brought along a whole batch of cupcakes for you and forgot them in the car :( :( :( Only found them a while ago all melted and smudged.. will bring next time!! Hey we had to take hubby to the dr for his eye! Its cut on the inside right up to the iris!! Can you believe?? He had to get special ointment and drops and also some major painkillers.. it started to get so sore he said it was worse than his kidneystones! hehe.. shame man.. wanted to offer him an epidural ;) But the stuff has kicked in now and he is walking around with an eyepatch.. Pietertjie thinks he is so funny :) (for the other girls: my son accidentally poked hubby in the eye during our shoot!) hehe

Meags, drat on the laptop! I broke our 3g stick the other day  Luckily my brother had a spare he could give me!

Cath, Im glad your feeling better with your decision now. I also believe you shouldnt worry unless there is definate reason to. Like Meags said, most pregnancies go without any issues. I really wish I couldve waited it out and let my little guy *bake* as long as possible too! But seems he is in just as much of a hurry as the gynae ;)

Lucy, did you buy the lenolax??? I kinda have been thinking I shouldve rather have bought it.. will try go tomorrow ;) gross!

Schatsie, sent you a FB request... Hope you had a great time at the shower with not too many funny games!

Anje, hi! Will add your date. Great that you are trying for natural!!

Fawaway, nice to hear that all is going so well with you! How big was your baby at your last scan? Sounds quite similar to my storey hey?? Anyway, good luck to you and enjoy your last few weeks!

AFM: things must still be developing on my side.. I got way more discharge now (sorry for tmi to follow) and also some bloody tinge.. so it must be the *bloody show* ? I can feel so much pressure when I walk and Im wondering what my little guy is up to? Still getting lotsa BH and lotsa good strong movements so Im def not worried anymore. Going to do my last bit of shopping tomorrow morning, taking my mom along.. and a bottle of water just incase my waters break, I can just pretend I dropped the bottle on myself or something :) Really hoping the walking will do something..

And I have this nauseous feeling hanging around much of the day.. dont really feel like eating.. is that normal??

Oooo and the baaaad thing that I realised this morning is that my brazilian was booked for the 25th!!!!! I really hope they can book me for monday morning still, but then its going to be tender when I go in!!?? :( Should I rather just veet?? Or can I just trim very well?? I sooo dont want to be shaved as I get a serious reaction from it!!

HI Girls,

I have tried countless number of times to send a message on here, but something either crops up or moomie is difficult on my phone and won’t let me send the message. I typed a whole history book earlier today and was about to send it when my son got hold of my phone and went out of it. So now I am using the computer.

My dad is home and is doing better every day, but he tries to talk and he doesn’t make sense, so we all end up frustrated. I don’t try to have a conversation with him because its impossible to understand him. My mom sits with him and tries to lip read and understand him for us. Instead of him asking for water he will say something completely different and it doesn’t make the least bit of sense. He refuses to let my mom do any of the physio and speak therapy on him and refuses to take his medication. She does have someone coming in Monday to Friday and he is a great help to my mom.

My brother more or less refuses to have anything to do with us and won’t pick up his cell phone, I guess that is his way of dealing with my dad. My dad and brother have never seen eye to eye and now when my mom really needs my brother around he ignores the lot of us. It breaks my heart that my brother has decided to take this route. He has never really accepted me being Muslim which also plays a role in him ignoring me. My brother makes sure that everything he brings here to the house is not halaal and makes pork jokes. I miss eating pork now and then, but the jokes are so lame… there are other religions that don’t eat pork either. Anyway enough about my family. Sorry I go on about them, but I don’t have much else place to talk on.

AFM: baby is showing as two weeks behind, but I decided that I am not going to stress as I spoke to a midwife and she reassured me that I mustn’t worry and that induction can only be done if a gynae orders it and I will not agree to it and rather do other things to bring on labour. I was induced last time for the same reason and I said never again because its not the birth that I had planned. Talking about that Emsmom I wanted to tell you that Dr Dumbrill was my gynae with my last pregnancy and he has your best interests at heart even if what you heard you didn’t like. He saved me from my placenta rupturing where as another friend of mine who went to Panarama had the other end of the stick. She nearly died and her son nearly died too. So I think it is the luck of the draw at the end of the day. Dr Dumbrill made sure that I didn’t tear and that my son was delivered alive and well. I take my hat off to him and would go back to him today if I had the money. I am sorry that you got to see a different side to him.

I am nearly 35 weeks pregnant now and baby is 4/5th engaged already, I don’t know if that is good, bad or ugly. Lmao. The people at work keep joking that I will give birth in one of the old cable cars and make front page news.. I can just see the headlines… Staff member gives birth at table mountain cableway. My last day is on the 28th and it cannot come soon enough to be honest. The heat is killing me and the hours I am not enjoying much anymore as I have to be up at 530am Monday to Friday and I only get to see my son for 2 hours if I am lucky in the evening and that time is spent feeding and bathing him and putting him to bed. In the mornings he wakes up and climbs on top of me and refuses to move so my mom has to physically take him off me and I have to run out the bedroom. I really hate it. I have 10 shifts left though and will then be back home all the time and I know he will be very happy to have both his mommy’s around and the guy that is looking after my dad. He loves children and is very good with my son.

I am going back to the hospital for an ultra sound on the 25th and have decided that I am taking a long weekend break with my son as to it will be the last chance I will get before the birth to do so as I won’t have any muslim classes on the 26th. I will go stay in a small flat that a friend of mine has near Fish Hoek, she has a double story house that is divided into two. I am so excited because I have not been on my own with Sulaiman as such since June last year and I really miss those times sometimes when there is no one around you to nag or talk to.

I am still fighting with Sars would you believe. They say I never paid tax on my pension and provident fund when I left my previous job so I have to get copies of irp5s and prove my point. Instead of them giving me my R5000 they paid me R449. I was so angry yoh.

I had a wonderful baby shower with 12 close friends and we had a great time. I got some beautiful things and the day after I had managed to save up R1000 and bought the things that I still needed to get for baby. I still have a few things that I need but they are minor and will get them when I get paid.

Oh yes I am also going to be part of the hypnobirthing crowd. I paid for a private lesson just to get the bare essentials with a lovely lady who used to run the hypnobirthing here in Cape Town but is now doing her own thing. Emsmom I know that you were worried about doing the hypnobirthing in a hospital environment, but it can be done. I have been told to create the feeling I must use candles and soothing music. The midwives treat you a whole lot better when they see that or at least that is the case at False Bay. I have been told its an excellent hospital to do hypnobirthing in, so I am so happy I have been able to get in there. The only downside is that you are only allowed one person at a time with you while you are in labour and give birth. My birthing partner will be my mom because she is the only person on this earth that I trust 100% and she will have my best interests at heart and doesn’t take crap from anyone.

Kaylae I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I know it doesn’t make sense to you at this moment in time, but it will one day. I have a friend who went full term and gave birth to a dead baby too. She is now pregnant again with me and was pregnant with me last time as well. Another friend was 24 weeks when she lost her baby and she now has a beautiful baby boy who is a year old. What I am trying to say is that there is still hope and there will always be.

Joli I am not sure if I have congratulated you or not on the birth of your son, so Congratulations if I have not done so. And he is absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Kimika good luck and I think you will be the next to give birth.

Meags I hope things are coming together for you over there and I think about you often. When I was 13 my dad was transferred to Hong Kong so he took all of us with. So we were all thrown into a country that didn’t speak English, even though we were together it was lonely and difficult at the beginning, but once I had friends things got a lot easier for me. We were there for 18 months and didn’t want to come back here, but we had little choice. After the fact my dad said it would have been better to have left my brother and I there to complete our education because it was still under British rule and we were getting a British education. But I will never regret my time there. I wish you only the best in Miami.

Hope the ladies that had baby showers had a great time today.

Hugs to you all.

Hi girls,

Hope you all are well !!

I have been really busy at work the last couple of weeks and really tired in the afternoons, so I haven’t been here in a while
My baby shower was last week Saturday, we got plenty of wonderful goodies for L. I enjoyed it so much. We are truly blessed with wonderful family and friends. Then on Sunday morning I woke and was really not well. Had bronchitus and was booked of the entire week in this incredible Pretoria heat.

I have finally decided to try the natural birth, but be prepared for c-sec as well. I am so glad we decided to take the antenatal classes, it is just so much better than a book, even my husband enjoys the information overload. I have just a couple of things to get still, but I will do that tomorrow and then I will pack our hospital bags during the week or next weekend. PS: My husband is totally freaked out that the bags aren’t packed yet, but I am not too worried.

I read Kaylae’s story and my heart is so sore for her. It is unbelievable.

Schatsie, enjoy your baby shower !!

Lucy, hope you get wonderful mat pics !!

Joli, I cannot believe Callum is 4 weeks already, he is gorgeous and I am glad he is healthy !! Tx re the pads advice, I have been wondering about that.

Karin, shame, since it is your last baby, you might as well end it on a good note. Buy the new pram, you could sell it afterwards as well.

Meags, how are you doing in your new place, I have completely missed your move. Are you settled yet ? What about the baby room.

Kimika, hope you are well. My next appointment is the 18the of Feb and I guess L’s weight will be around 3.4 kg’s. Do you mind adding it to the list.

Sorry girls, I did not catch up on the previous pages, so if there is any news or new events that I should know off, please let me know.
