Yippee :) Actually some posts to read!

Tazzy, glad it was ok when you went to dr! I would also rather say low than high.. but very low is not good.. Some women tend to have lower bp when preggie.. I took mine also the other day and it was much lower than usual. Also make sure you eat something atleast every 2hrs.

I think I need to go buy a book.. googling only brings up English names.

Faw, ag man that is such a pain!!! What else can you do to be accepted at Groote Schuur? Cant you still try get someone's electric bill as proof of residence in that area? As for the backpain.. like Tazzy said, try some Arnica. Do you carry your son around a lot?

Lucy - thats what the dr said I should eat. Add salt into my diet.
He checked my BP and it was 100/50 sitting, and then made me lie down for 10 mins and it went up to 110/70.
He also checked the babys heartbeat to out my mind at ease and it was perfect. I loved hearing it!!

Tazzy - I have low BP. At my last visit (when i was a bit stressed about downs test) my BP was 100/60. It is better to be low than high, but obviously too low and feeling dizzy is dangerous too. What I do when I feel like I am dipping is salt. Best is salt and vinegar chips. Good luck.

Kimika - I am also here!

Karin - The alcohol debate. I haven't had any but if there was an occassion that I really felt like something I think I would have half a glass without stressing. With my first pregnancy (that I MC'd) I was anal and did everything perfectly and things still went wrong. So I am now much calmer and sensible. I do not believe the odd glass etc could cause a problem ..... not when my mother drank and smoked when preggy with me!!

Mommy Jess - I would be inclined to use my own name until you are married.

Meags - how is the kitty today? I will go vote now ...... if I can find the page!!

Michelle - Helloooooo! How are you starnger?

Faw - Panado and a herbal rub. If the pain has been around longer than 2 weeks it is most likely not muscular which means I would give a physio a skip and go to a chiropracter.

Emsmom - I hope piss off Rikki day is over - LOL!! Oh and I do think the teacher has a bit of a cheek!

kimika - I'll be around this weekend, which is about the only time I have time for moomie. ( and then nobody is here :( )
have you bought a baby name book yet. I have read every name in my name book, and have type out all the names that I thought Id consider. Now its just up to hubby to cross off the ones he doesnt like.

Faw - So did they not even do a scan yesterday? Sorry Im not sure about the back pain. Perhaps some Arnica would help if its a muscular problem.

AFM - I was feeling a bit airy headed yesterday. I have my own BP monitor so I took my BP and it was really low. 90 / 59. So I have decided to go and see my GP this morning just to check everything is ok. So now Im just waiting for the DRs rooms to open to make an appointment.

Has anyone had really low BP? i tried to research it online last night and they say it could be from dehydration. So needless to say Ive drinking a lot of water!

My post vanished. Eish. And it was long. So here is the short version. Went to groote schuur and was a waste of my day. They did nothing properly and i wasn't impressed. And they told me to go to hanover park. So im back to square one. Can one of you kind ladies tell me what the best thing to do for lower back pain is cos the gynae wasn't interested. Would it be going to a physio? I can't live off panado for another 5 months. Thanks.

Ok, so I'm not pregnant but I follow most of the forums on here... I'd like to add my 2 cents to the surname debate... My daughters dad and I were together for 5 years before she came along, we were engaged at the time so I gave her his surname when she was born thinking that it would just make things easier once we were married. Needless to say 3 years later we split without getting married. I researched changing her surname to mine - I even went to the respective government department and got all the forms and because we were never married, I didn't need his permission to change her surname - in fact, that is one of the options on the form as to the reason why you are changing the child's surname "child born out of wedlock" etc but I never did it. She was 3 years old then, she knew her full name and she still was seeing her father all the time and it just never felt right. Today my daughter is 10, she still has her father's surname, her and I have discussed changing her surname to mine, but she wants to keep his surname and I'm happy with that. I got an abriged version of her birth certificate - which shows me as her mother, and I carry that every where with me and I've really never ever had a problem. She's on my medical aid - they wanted a copy of the abriged birth certificate, when she was enrolled in school I included a copy with her application forms and whenever we fly anywhere I just hand it over with her airline ticket and I've never been questioned or had any hassles. It all comes down to a personal choice at the end of the day, but quite honestly as a mom who has a child with an ex-boyfriends surname, it's never been a problem or a hassle.
