Seems like the 10 th is a good date then, it was also my Granfathers birthday!

Amy- I have not decided anything yet. I will wait until Thursday and see what the dr says.
I have packed a gown in my hospital bag, so hope I will be warm enough.
Oh I wanted to say about weighing baby. I used to weigh myself, then weigh myself with baby, and then subtract my weight.

Meags- not sure really how I feel. The whole pregnancy I have accepted the fact that I will probably have a c section. With M I never even considered it. No one in my family ever had one and after he was born I felt like I had failed and been unseccusful in birthing M. PTSD?
Anyhow, it took me a long time to get over the fact that his birth never went as I had wished. So this time around I decided that I would be happy to do as the dr advises and not to be dead set on a specific way of giving birth. Also I have been hold that the chances of a successful VBAC are not great. If I do go into labour naturally and it lands up a c section then at least I will know that baby is ready to come out.

Can't remember who asked, but with M I had a c section as my water broke, I had no contractions, they induced the contractions but labour never progressed quickly enough. The gynae said M's heart rate was dipping with every contraction, indicating that he may possibly have been stuck.

MsDee - if the discharge is clear then I don't think you should be too concerned.

Rakker- when things are a bit easier for you, I hope you get a chance to share your birth experience and some pics of baby with us!

AFM- was such a lovely day in CT yesterday. We went to the Decorex show, looked around - still waiting for our building plans to be approved by Counsel!
Then we went to the Waterfront, lunch at Quay4 - took M up the Wheel of Excellance, and then sat outside having an ice cream.
Soon I will have no time for such relaxing days!

It's still coming, but so far it's clear.
If I drink anymore water I think i'll get sick. So tomorrow morning i'll go have the urine checked at Healthworx & while i'm there i'll also ask about the mucus plug.

I've had such an easy pregnancy, hence i'm a little freaked. I thought i'd be one of those who carry past 40 weeks.

Don't even get time to read all the posts . And my birth story has to wait a while longer as I had some severe bleeding to sort out. Huge blood clots last night and today, accompanied by loads of bleeding. It's frigging 10 days after giving birth! So today when the bleeding was like a tap running, I put the towel between my legs (over the 2 pads and a linnen saver to top it off) and had DH take me to Wilgers hospital (in case of emergency, go past Wilgers to any other hospital...). Today's bleeding was first only loads and loads of blood and only later on the clot, after which the bleeding was much less. So after 4 hours there with the gynae missing in action (my gynae on leave, so I asked for any gynae), I got an Oxitocin (sp?) shot, a course of antibiotics and my hemoglobin was tested. I was told to just keep a close eye on the bleeding. The bleeding might be due to the placenta that was very hard to deliver in tact, but who knows, as no gynae has seen me and the doctor could only see that much from the outside.

I had to wait long for everything. To be taken to a room (thinking when will the blood start running down my legs or when will I bleed myself to death?). To see a doctor (who was amazed at the amount of blood on the towel, pads, etc. Duh, I told you so). To see the gynae, who never pitched (no other options, only the one missing in action?). To get the blood test result (the lady drawing the blood was there in a flash, at least one ray of light). I even sent DH and my LB home and just kept baby with me. So ya, I will rather go to another hospital if I really need help.

Bleeding fine for now, thank goodness. Will do birth story over the weekend. Sorry for my selfish post .

Meags my mom won't let me use my dads car because its a camry, its so big and guzzles petrol.
Amy i don't want bottles around because i had bottles with my first one and within four weeks i gave up breastfeeding and im scared ill see the bottles and go the same way. Might sound crazy but thats the way i feel. As for the cyst the doctor will drain it for me. I have noticed since i have left it alone its smaller than it was. May be he is hoping it will be gone by then and won't have to drain it.

hey faw. Great that your blocked ducts are all sorted. Any idea what the doc will do about the cyst? And good that bf is going well. One less thing to wory about. why do you say you wouldn't go near bottles for now?? Oh and its so nice of your friends cousin to give you those clothes. The other day my cousin gave me all her babies small clothing. Its such a help here in winter.

MsDee with my first pregnancy my mucus plug started coming loose a week before labour. First it was a clear colour then tinged with blood. But as for the dark urine and thirst I'm not sure. Maybe call your doctor. Have you not been drinking enough ewater lately, maybe therefore the dark urine?? Hmmm I'm not sure. if you not bleeding its not serious enough to really stress but rather put your mind at ease and call the doc.

After childbirth, women may also experience post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD includes two key elements: (1) experiencing or witnessing an event involving actual or threatened danger to the self or others, and (2) responding with intense fear, helplessness or horror.

Symptoms of birth-related PTSD may include:

Obsessive thoughts about the birth
Feelings of panic when near the site where the birth occurred
Feelings of numbness and detachment
Disturbing memories of the birth experience
Nightmares
Flashbacks
Sadness, fearfulness, anxiety or irritability

I am obsessive about the birth and cant stop thinking it over, how it happened, what I could have done to make it different etc etc.
I feel detached.
I have disturbed memories of the birth and often cry when I think about it.
Not so sure about flashbacks...but when I think about it I can visualise exactly what happened.
I am very sad about the experience and feel irritable about how it ended up.

I would call your labour ward and ask them. You can pass the mucous plus and only go into labour 2 weeks later. But you can also go into labour that day. You cant really tell from the outside, only by doing an internal.

We use to tell our mom's that having your show or mucous plug is not reason to go to hospital. It must be combined with contractions or breaking of waters.

However the urine story sounds suspicious. Are you definitely not leaking any amniotic fluid? As I said, call the labour ward. Perhaps you can just go do a urine test and make sure there's no infection or anything.

I started losing my mucous plug about a week or more before I finally went into labour.

Is your mucous plug just the clear jelly type or is there a tinge of brown or red blood mixed with it?

Amy my cats have been so disinterested in Matt!! I am SO surprised. I use to look after orphans in SA and when I had them at home my cats were so curious, wanting to smell the baby and would stalk the baby and when the baby moved, the cats would freak and run away! But they dont even bat an eyelid when he cries or anything. The one will get up and move if Matt is in close range and crying. the other just lies there like there is nothing going on. The one is really my baby. he is so dependent on me. well he didnt come upstairs to our room at all for the first month. now suddenly last week he is sleeping on the bed every night...maybe because Matt is in his cot?! but even this morning when Matt was in bed with me, Bling still came and slept there too.
Matt's eyebrows and eyelashes were also so light at birth and now you can actually see them. he finally inherited SOMETHING from me...long eyelashes!! yippee!!

Faw why wont your mom let you use your dad's car???? that would make your life SOOOO much easier!!! isnt there a friend who can give you a lift? wish i was there to help xx

Tazzy I forget to talk about the Losec...
with Matt I disolve in 3ml water. Then i hold him with his head back and turn the syringe so the point is facing down. swirl the syringe so all the little balls collected in the tip of the syringe. Then syringe into his cheek. if you go straight back they tend to push out the fluid with their tongue. but if you squirt into their cheek and then blow in their face, they swallow. cruel...i know...but it works!! So I just syringe a little by little and each time turn the syringe tip down, swirl and squirt. after a couple of squirts all the balls are out the syringe and he just drinks the remaining milky looking water.
