WHAT TO PACK FOR THE HOSPITAL FOR A C-SECTION

Girly - I had a c-sec at La femme hospital in Rustenburg, and they allowed a video camera in theater, we had to arrange it beforehand, and they then appoint a nurse sepcifically to take the video, I am really glad we did it, as the memory is kept forever, and she really captured every special moment!

I had everything packed, looked like I would be gone for a week. Did not use half the stuff, and had to send some back with DH and requested a few other thing from him while I was at the hospital. Remember what ever you forget your DH can just fetch or buy?

Dont forget a camera / video camera!
They wont allow video footage in surgery but the paed will gladly take photo's for you. And nice for first visits etc.

Good point about a spare set of pj's too!
Breast pads? Own pillow - say if you have one of those long breastfeeding ones.
Mediclinic you can buy the earphones from them or bring your own in.

When you get preauthorisation from the hospital, they should give you a list of what they provide - I think the meditwinkle pack includes a pack of those surfboard pads?

I am completely and utterly overwhelmed by all of this.

I feel like I am not going to be prepared at all.

The dis chem panties were really great they are very low cut so they sit under the scar I bought 3 packs so I had 9 panties.

I had 2 packs of dr whites but only used 1. and then went onto the always pads as they stay in place where dr whites dont.

The breast pads will be more than enough!! Dont think you need to pack all of them

I'd go get 2 more packs then....unfortunately I have to travel 160km to Durban to get them!

How many pack of Maternity pads? And do I need the gel pack Breast Soother thingy?

My dear friend advised me to get the real Ouma panties, that comes about over your belly button. According to her the woolies ones is lekker.


How many nursing bra's? What size? I bought some from woolies, but in a size slightly bigger than I wear now.

And how many Breast Pads would I need? Bought a bulk bag of 80.

I used 5 pairs if I recall correctly. I bought 4 and got one free from discovery. I also then bought cheap regular panites (pep is fine) just for the first week at home which I threw out.

I took my hairdryer too. Take a pen for all the forms.

Shame they were amazing at Panorama and offered neil food when he was there.
