Name of Gynae/Obgyn: Dr Mark Siebritz
Male or female: Male
Province & Suburb: Western Cape, Brackenfell
Hospital: Cape Gate MediClinic
Medical aid rates: Yes
Cost of consult and delivery: R1200 for first appointment, R550 thereafter. Including scans at every appointment, except 12 week and 20 week scans which are done elsewhere. Consultations were covered by Discovery savings. Birth is covered on Discovery with a R3500(?) co-payment (will confirm).
Are your appointments mostly on time: Mostly on time - rescheduled twice due to deliveries (phoned me a few hours in advance), and once had to wait a while, but otherwise on time.
Does your caregiver fully support your choices: Yes although he seems to be slightly more pro-natural birth, he will never force a woman to have a vaginal birth/c-section, the choice is theirs.
Are Saturday appointments available: No

I think he is a very nice Dr, I am comfortable with him and he seems genuinely excited at each of my scans.

Name of Gynae/OBGYN: Dr Marlene Bothma
Male or female: female
Province & Suburb: Parktown, Johannesburg, Gauteng.
Hospital: Park Lane
Medical aid rates: no
Cost of consult and delivery:
R2100 first consult, R1300 thereafter.
R14000 delivery(2016 price so will actually be more)
Are your appointments mostly on time: so far
Does your caregiver fully support your choices: don't know yet. Early still.
Are Saturday appointments available: don't think so

I had no idea this was so much more expensive than other gynecologists, even at Park lane! Realized after looking through this forum, I'm disappointed as she seems very nice, we are paying entirely out of pocket as our hospital plan (discovery smart) doesn't cover any of the prenatal visits. This was a surprise as we misread the fine print on this plan. Feeling ripped off.

Hi All

I recently found out that I am pregnant and am trying to decide on doctors.

Could you tell me about your experience with Dr Stander or Dr Haacke at the Linmed in Benoni.
