I took the 5mg folic acid and 50mg Vit B6, cause I had a short LP phase. I took both of them twice a day. I also had to take a couple of other meds, but I have PCOS. And when I fell Pregnant I just added The Preg Omega Plus. I kept on taking the 5mg Folic acid and Vit B6 (it also helps for nausea) with the Preg Omega Plus just to be safe...

As you say Cols they do advise folic acid from the time one starts trying as many only start taking (like me) well into the stage where the brain and spinal cord have started developing.

For me it is particularly relevant as it apparantly reduces the chances of neural tube defects by up to 70% which is massive. I've always taken it as part of a multi-vitamin (preg omega) but am going to now take pure folic acid as I see it was in fact less than 1mg. I'll take a 5mg dose (courtesy Google) though need to confirm with my gynae.

Pregnacare Conception is also good. I took that with the little yellow folic acid pills.

oh okay - i will definetely get from Dishem...how many time should you take the folic acid pill?

the doc gave me the small yellow pills when i fell pregnant but MC shortly afta. and anyone heard of Ciplaton Preg - if its good to take while TTC? as it has all those vitamins in it..like folic acid-B6 and others too.

Want2b they actually recommend you take folic acid while ttc. I got those little yellow folic acids at dischem. I take folic forte it's about r60 per box. It has other vitamins as well so when I was pregnant with Evan I took that and preg omega.

1. I use Fertilityfriend.com. Really user friendly and interprates all the info for you!

2. I went to the pharmacy at the back. apon my gyni's instruction asked for a little yellow 5mg or 5gram follic acid pill. Not quite sure now. will make sure and let you know. They come in bottles of 100 for about R20. Pure folic acid. I was with gyni who specialises in infertility. took one in the morning and one at night time. I got mine at Clicks.
