Can you claim the cost of the innoculations from Medical Aid?

I have phoned around and all places I have to pay for the prevanar and the rotarex as these are private vaccines & they are expensive, I'm going to end up spending around R1000 unfortunetly but it is worth it as I don't want my boy catching anything. The state vaccines I don't have to pay for, but the 2 private ones I do. However no place has stock of the private ones at the moment. So I'll have to go get the state vaccines in the meantime and go back for the rest.

Kristin did you get the prevanar and the rotarex free as well? What is your local pharmacy called?

I am going to phone the state clinic to find out how it works there as well. I may get them for free there! Will see.

Kristin we paid the privates and to be honest it was a waste of money. Fewer inj but still. Once you start the privates you can't use government ones afterwards.

I took my LG to the sister at our local pharmacy and paid R30 for the vaccinations to be administered and R30 for the weighing and measuring. I refuse to pay over R1000 for something I can get for free! My baby felt a little off with the 6 week one for a day or so, the 10 week one she barely noticed and the 14 week one (which is the same as the 6 week) she slept alot after but that was all. I gave panado before the 6 week injection and then 4 hours after. Nothing with the other 2 because she didn't need anything. It is horrible giving the gov ones at 6 weeks and 14 weeks because it's 3 injections, but the honestly do not remember. The cry for about 5 minutes and then they get over it (or at least my LG does). I just can't justify spending over R1000. Good Luck ladies it isn't fun! :(

I must just add that I didn't really give him meds before his visit. I would wait to see if he was niggly or feverish which usually occured later during the day.

Bundle I liked the panado when Dylan was small as it was nicely measured out but many of the kids choke on panado and Dylan prefers calpol now. It doesn't come with a dropper though so stick to the panado for now.
