Glad it worked out so well for you, I think it's excellent that the Government has come to the party with regard to the vaccines.

Thanx Reluctant Mom!!

I went to the Bothasig clinic today for Luke's innoculations the clinic was not bad at all & the sisters were lovely and I was the 2nd person with baby to be seen to so I only waited about 15-20minutes. Also got my Microval pills free. :)

Shame he had 3 injections in his thighs he cried out when they injected him but I gave him his dummy and he was quiet again, so it was pretty easy... such a strong boy :cheer:

Thank you ladies for all your advice!

Oh no misty. We paid private rates too in 2008. I am glad it is free now as I think Dylan really did gain from having them. He doesn't get too sick for a daycare kid, but I did bf him till he was 9 months which his paed said helped alot.

The government is now giving Rotarex and Prevenar for free. I had my vaccinnes done at Panorama Breastfeeding Clinic as my LB was not part of the free vaccinnes(pity he was 2 weeks to early).

Janine, You can give him the state injections even if he is overdue with little reactions afterwards. Kyle only had his 10 week injections at 4 and a half months as he was also sick. He was a little miserable that night but the next day, his old self again.

Apparently the gov ones don't give bad reactions. Dylan had privates and he got a fever so I wouldn't worry.

He did get a bad reaction after his second measles inj. but nothing that serious.

RM I won't go to Shoprite in Bothasig either. If you are on maternity leave then the clinic sounds fab.

I think the reaction depends on the child - some kids are going to react no matter which it is.

My experience has been: Child 1 and 2 only did private, little or no reaction to any of the shots.

My 2nd child did have a temperature after one of the shots, I can't even recall which, but some panado/stopayne and a little lie down and she was fine.

Child 3 only government so far, no reaction so far to what she has received.
