Oh Yaz this is so shocking and I actually feel sick right now reading this.

It needs to be reported.

Sadly nursing has become a regular job for many so that food is on the table. There really has to be some kind of testing to try to make sure the people who become nurses are the right type of people or more patients will suffer.

How heartless though and I am guessing that some of these nursing staff have kids of their own too.

Oh gosh, guys, I'm so upset right now, I need to share this terrible story with you :(

I work at Tygerberg Hospital for an HIV programme. We are based on the paediatric HIV ward and the nurses on our ward COULD NOT CARE LESS about the poor little patients! The latest incident really broke my heart: on the night shift the nurses usually watch tv and don't really check on the little ones, many times they are just left to cry. Now yesterday a four months old baby got her little foot stuck in between the iron bars of her cot. When she tried to wriggle it out (obviously after crying for ages and no one attending to her), she BROKE HER LEG!!!! The doctors only saw it the next morning!!! I am so disgusted by the carelessness of the sisters, it's shocking! They are now trying to cover the incident up but we are trying to get the baby's mom to report them. These people should not be left to look after small sick children!! It's just so wrong!! :( :(

(Don't get me wrong, I am by no means generalising. I know many many excellent nurses in Gov hospitals. Just the ones on our ward seem to be heartless and completely blunted towards their patients)

Cameron (*08.08.2009) is watching his little sister from above.
