what a sad story - makes me feel sick

@ Yaz, shame thats terrible. Unfortunately I wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not. I've worked in enough hospitals (public and private) to know that nursing care in South Africa is virtually non existant. I have so many stories I could probably write a book. Yes there are really good nurses, but unfortunately with "rights" discipline has gone out the window..

I dont trust hospitals with my family members at all...

I hope that mother gets some retribution. At least in private hospitals parents are allowed to stay with their children in the general wards. The only parents that are t to stay on site in government hospitals are the breastfeeding ones:(

Just a quick update, ladies:

I've managed to get the Head of the Social Workers on board. She has already sent somebody to the mom. The case WILL be investigated and reported!! I'm so glad! I'll keep you informed about what's happening if I get any info in future.

Thanks Juno. Yes, I'd say drop it for now. The mom is extremely intimidated and I don't think she would be keen to talk. Most parents have serious issues with disclosing their HIV status, in many cases not even the immediate family knows.

Yaz are you saying you want me to drop it? Let me know so that I can quickly inform my friend to stop all action - she works extremely fast.
