I'm also a freak, but my child has never slept through.

Charenay I always felt like the odd one out when it come to babies. My LB only took cat-naps - sleeping for 10 to 30min at a time and will only go back to sleep after 2hrs for another 10 - 30min.
People always looked at me as if I'm nuts when I tell them that is how he sleep, but that didn't bother me. Don't let people comments upset you that much because each child is different.

I can only recall one night that he actually slept from22H00 till 6 the morning. He still wakes up during the night and we are tired most of the days.

I was also judged by many - not moomie - for breastfeeding E till 22months, I loved it and would have continued till 2.5. Had to stop it when he got sick.

E is also a very sickly child. Because of his allergies he get sick quite often, but I just deal with it. At work can't say that he is sick, because there is always someone that knows better. I have accepted that I will always be that way...

Being a parent is hard work and some of us have easy kids others not.

Just enjoy your little girl one of these days they are out of the house ;)

I'm also a freak. I also had an easy baby.
But now that she 2 - oh boy!!
I am struggling.
Not all days, but some days are a lot harder than others.
I don't cry at 2am in the morning - I cry when she is giving me a hard time and I have had a really tough day. That could be anytime....

Motherhood is great for me - but hard some days!
I can almost bet that it's like that for most of us!

(This forum definately helps us through every aspect of being a mom - easy baby or not - and its really up to you if you want to participate in a certain thread or not.)
Maybe you should post more threads on the easiness of it all so that other moms to be out there see that it is not all doom and gloom.

At the risk of not conforming with the mainstream here, am I the only "freak" or does anyone else have a baby who sleeps through the night and pretty much has been doing that since at least 8 weeks???

Just wondering why we (or is it only me) are told to sit in the corner and "shut up, you are not allowed to talk about it"?

I COMPLETELY understand and believe it is our duty to inform new mothers-to-be that everything will not always be rosy and that being a mother is HARD WORK. But, why is it not ok to also tell them that sometimes (and I understand this is a rare occurence) you really DO get lucky? Someone even mentioned on another thread that maybe moms who say their babies sleep through are lying???? Excuse my ignorance, but why would someone lie about something like that? (unless there is a prize up for grabs that I am not aware of)??

So here, I'll say it:

I was completely prepared for sleepless nights and crying in the toilet at 2AM morments, but I am still waiting for those moments. My daughter started sleeping through the night at about 8 weeks old (if not sooner), and I've never had a sleepless night.
I have not yed had the urge to "off" my DH, yes he does piss me off sometimes, but that's par for the cause. He helps with the baby and definitely does more dummy runs than me, we REALLY do share all household/cooking/baby duties 50/50
Yes, I have had days when there was no time to even brush my teeth, but they were so far and few between and really not an issue for me
Yes, I was a bit of a "mess" those first few weeks because I hated breastfeeding and could not bond with my baby because all I could think of was the next time she would have to feed and how I was dreading it, but I then decided to formula feed her and this was the worst it ever got

So, forgive me for being a bit irked at the idea that just because motherhood has been easy for me, I am not allowed to talk about it.

Go ahead, puke on me................but I am just wondering, a I REALLY the only one here in my little corner???

I agree with you... Only difference is that I loved breastfeeding and was sad to stop... But yeah, Jaqi has been sleeping through from very early, and she falls asleep without having to rock her or such :) So you're not the only freak!

Charnenay my friend it just shows how different each baby is.

And we're all just really jealous of moms whose babies are so easy.
I remember when we visited and our babies were still teeny (well mine more than yours :)) I really did feel envy at how easy you had it. It's not that I would wish it harder for you, because I certainly wouldn't, but there were times that I wished it easier on myself.
And knowing there are moms here that I can relate to just makes me feel a little bit better about myself / my baby.

But then it did get easier, and now its harder again but for different reasons. But I have to keep telling myself it'll get easier again, and then there's the terrible 2's so who knows what it'll be like for us when our girls get to that age and it might change or number 2 you may have different so dont feel bad about your sleep!

So no you certainly dont have to keep quiet about how good she is / you have it! I would be celebrating if I were you!
But I could understand why some may have a little bit of envy but that's not your burden to bear.

Just enjoy your gorgeous little girly and enjoy your sleep :) You're going to be exhausted soon enough from running after her now that she's crawling so make the most of your sleep mommy!

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

I also sit quietly in the corner...Skye slept through on her own at 8 weeks, is very happy, hardly ever cries, eats well etc. So far I'm loving it. I think its because I and my hubby are very calm people and having worked with babies and newborns for so many years I was not nervous around baby when she arrived.

I don't like making some mommies feel bad so I don't say anything, I just agree that sleepless nights are difficult (having been a night nurse for several babies I do understand!)

My LG hardly EVER cries, never had colic, eats everything and anything, smiles at all strangers, sleeps through the night and is generally an absolute pleasure...besides being hyper-active and destroying my carefully-constructed picture-perfect living room with expensive magazines on the coffee table (which she loves to tear  :P )...get the picture???

So I really am one of you :) but still don't fel at all pushed into a corner and quite enjoy the banter about crying in the loo at 2am. Actually makes me thankful for my LG. I do join in sometimes cos life's not always perfect and I'm glad I can say so with no judgment.

But again. Point taken. Everyone here is allowed to air their views and voice their feelings without judgment.

Anyway, won't get carried away :)
