@Charnenay: I honestly didn't realise that you (or other moms) felt this way. I also haven't had much trouble with my daughter. I only struggled when I was completely alone with her when she was still very small and could never put her down to eat/go to the loo/shower etc...but now that she's older, that's not an issue anymore. DH also helps out with the baby and most of the time, things ARE all rosy and bright smiles all round...

so...I agree with RM on many of the points she made. (a case in point is that for all her quirky b*tching abt motherhood, she still wants to have no.4!!! Reading btwn the lines, that is evidence that for all the "hiding behind the curtain"from our kids, we actually love them to bits and love motherhood as well)

I just think that moomie tends to be the platform where we can offload those things that we don't love so much about being a mom/wife/career-woman/our DH's etc etc. As with everything in life, there are always those little things that grate our carrots and we just have to put on a bright smile and have nowhere/no-one to share these with.

Maybe though, now that you have voiced out how you feel, you can start a thread on the positive aspects or one for mommies whose babies sleep through quite early on or for mom's with "easy" babies.

Chances are you would find the same "moaners" posting a lot of positive things on that thread as well...

ah your not the only one in the corner pushed aside!!!!

My baba also sleeps threw the night...

Im also very peeeved about the whole "not allowed to talk about it"

i was terrified of motherhood, after seen what most of my friends have been threw and all the things they told me!

But to my surprise... It was absolutely nothing to what they said or what they went threw...

Blake is a absolute pleasure, he has never been sick and sometimes its like there isnt even a baby in the house!

Im so irritated with the whole....

Im happy your baby is treating you so well,
Is he really in such a good routine, WTF
does he really eat so well, WTF
it can never be... WTF

are you giving him stopain every night? WTF

I mean really!

Im really bless with Blake and i thank the lord every single day...

Id also like to know why we been pushed into a corner...

Hey Charnenay - I think the issue is that for mothers many feel that they need to be happy with thier lot in life, and not complain, and smile sweetly that everything is fine.

Yes, we all love our children, and often things are not that bad - we do get to sleep, we do get to change our underwear, we do have happy fulfilled relationships with our partners in crime.

What Moomie does - and thank g*wd for that - is it supplies us a space to rant/rave about the things that we are not happy about.

And yes when one goes off on a bit of a sh*t fit one tends to get all worked up and start screaming and the moon and painting it all a certain shade of puce!

Of course there are moms who have kids who sleep through - of course there are moms who manage to juggle it all - of course there are moms who are quite happy with thier partner - we hear about these moms every time we open a magazine, watch a movie and so on.

No one for a minute is saying that if you are this mom you should sit in the corner and be quiet - but at the same time allow moms who might not be these moms to go a little off thier faces every now and then.

I understand the offense you took at the statement - and I apologise if I helped feed the frenzy - there was no intention to exclude anyone or make anyone feel lesser than.

We all have great days, we all have not so great days - some of us just have more of one than the other.

As much as I can b*tch and mo*n about a lot of things, there is also a long list of things that I can be thankful for and dance a little jig about every day - I just choose not to stand around clapping about those things on this forum.

My happy moments are expressed in other areas - my moments I struggle with that I might need to feel that I am not alone, are expressed here so that I do not feel like I am totally insane.

I do apologise if the rant from earlier this week hurt your feelings - and any other moomies - it really was not the intention.

<Please try to remember that there are dozens of threads on this forums where moms are expressing happiness about babies sleeping through/babies talking early/babies programming the remote at 9 months.

I am just not on those threads because they do not relate to my life - and at the same time I do not get offended because moms are cheering about a first tooth or a first poop in the toilet - it is okay for them, my map of the world is different, so I read, and then click away and do not take it as a personal stab against me personally>

I have a letter from my pdoc to say I am insane, so tread lightly with me, some days I can be a total bitch. I'm lying. Most days I am a total bitch.

I abhor smiley face icons. Just saying.

At the risk of not conforming with the mainstream here, am I the only "freak" or does anyone else have a baby who sleeps through the night and pretty much has been doing that since at least 8 weeks???

Just wondering why we (or is it only me) are told to sit in the corner and "shut up, you are not allowed to talk about it"?

I COMPLETELY understand and believe it is our duty to inform new mothers-to-be that everything will not always be rosy and that being a mother is HARD WORK. But, why is it not ok to also tell them that sometimes (and I understand this is a rare occurence) you really DO get lucky? Someone even mentioned on another thread that maybe moms who say their babies sleep through are lying???? Excuse my ignorance, but why would someone lie about something like that? (unless there is a prize up for grabs that I am not aware of)??

So here, I'll say it:
I was completely prepared for sleepless nights and crying in the toilet at 2AM morments, but I am still waiting for those moments. My daughter started sleeping through the night at about 8 weeks old (if not sooner), and I've never had a sleepless night.
I have not yed had the urge to "off" my DH, yes he does piss me off sometimes, but that's par for the cause. He helps with the baby and definitely does more dummy runs than me, we REALLY do share all household/cooking/baby duties 50/50
Yes, I have had days when there was no time to even brush my teeth, but they were so far and few between and really not an issue for me
Yes, I was a bit of a "mess" those first few weeks because I hated breastfeeding and could not bond with my baby because all I could think of was the next time she would have to feed and how I was dreading it, but I then decided to formula feed her and this was the worst it ever got

So, forgive me for being a bit irked at the idea that just because motherhood has been easy for me, I am not allowed to talk about it.

Go ahead, puke on me................but I am just wondering, a I REALLY the only one here in my little corner???
