EC stands for elimination communication (dont worry I couldnt figure out what AF was:))

I'm still trying to figure out last months living and loving. In it they discuss the diferent methods of potty training and although this method is mentioned there is a disclaimer underneath that says they dont support this method. While I am far too lazy to use this method(anyway I use cloth nappies so expence of disposables is not an issue) I cant see why it would be damaging in ANY way to the child. Its not like you are forcing them to toilet rrain or reprimanding them. Actually felt like writing in and asking what their basis for not agreeing with the method was!

Abbreviations!:-( I didn't know what EC'ING is. And I don't read each thread on the forum, just the ones i'm interested in. Do you ladies read each thread? Or did you all know what this abbreviation mean? It feels embarrassing to do something like this. Its like i'm ignorant and i'm not.

I bought a potty and is definitly going to start trying in summer. Stefan is 13 months old already so I think it would be nice to start getting him used to a potty without the pressure of actually potty training. I'm aiming for catching one poo a day and maybe a couple of pees, not going for gold just yet, just want him to get used to the idea.

lol the damaging your child argument is purely from misunderstanding and thinking that ec is like the old way of forcing a child to use a potty through punishment as opposed to working with your child's needs. Many people assume it is a process of control and punishment a form of toilet torture. --- mantra --- Smile & nod Ü

Newborns pee every 20 mins, I would not keep up..
but I have had moments when I'm changing him and he pees and I notice he does the same thing, kinda looks away and stays quiet for a while.
I love the idea of ec :)

Oh I love the bonding benefit you mention on the site! I felt so much close to B during that time. Felt like I knew every little thing about her.

Jems, thanks. I'm not at all happy today. I feel strangely violated, feel like going to buy another pot of toddler purity to watch my little one throw up
