Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

Ag shame poor Amelie, yes those chemicals are really quite harsh. Have you tried Moltex? You sometimes find that too in some health shops. I am going to be stocking Moltex soon too but still love the Bambo disposables.

Who was the one asking about the Snugglybum nappies? good news, I have all the information from them now and must just get my ass into gear and load the product on the website. We will also be stocking fancypants soon, I am just waiting for the people to send me all the relevant info for the site. I think I do need to strip them as it seemed to happen almost overnight and was not a gradual thing. The leaks do seem to be around the legs though but she has been on this setting for a while now, so I don't think it is the setting.

I have never used hot or even warm water on them. In the beginning I did soak poo nappies in cold water and a tiny bit of omo, but I haven't done that for about 3 months.

I will try stripping them this weekend. I went to go get disposables last night just to see me through getting my nappies fixed. Checkers didn't have bambo in maxi in stock so I had to get pampers, do you know just from last night and this morning the horrible disposables have already given her a rash!! I shudder to think what is in those things, grrrrrrrrrr.

Thanks for the feedback on the new MN covers 2km! I love the all in one but I have so many nature nappies that it'll be wiser and cheaper for me to rather buy new covers for the new baba.

LucyW, your nappies should really not be leaking so it must be one of these problems listed above and soap residue could be the main culprit. Just also to double check though, you havn't ever soaked your covers in water for a period of time or in a hot wash?

What is Stripping?

If you notice that your Cherub Tree nappies are starting to smell strongly of ammonia – often obvious as soon as your baby urinates, then it may be time to strip your nappies.

‘Stripping’ simply means washing the nappies in a way that removes excessive build up of washing powder or creams and lotions.

Simply wash the nappies on one cycle up to 60 degrees with NO washing powder. Then, run a second cycle with 1/2 cup of baking soda or white vinegar in the rinse cycle. Rinse again if necessary.

Always dry your nappies in the sun and fresh air where possible.


Help, my nappies are leaking.

The three main reasons for leaks with cloth nappies are:

The inserts are soaking wet and when any pressure is applied (ie your baby sits down) moisture escapes out the legs and back. Solution: Add more inserts.

The nappy is leaking – mainly around the legs, but the inserts are still mostly dry. Solution: Adjust the fit. Make sure the nappy is firm (but not tight) around the legs. Ensure you have set the nappy to the appropriate size setting for your child’s weight/age.

My nappies have never leaked... until now? Solution: This is most likely the cause of a build up of washing powder or nappy creams. Strip them (see our 'What is stripping' F.A.Q.)

2KM - Congratulations - awesome news!!

I have a problem, my nappies are leaking within 30min of changing my LO. I know this has been spoken about before and I have tried to go back in the thread to see but my internet is soooo slow I got frustrated.
Can anyone help? I have cherub tree and bumbeetles. I have never used softener. I do use bingo (blue bar soap) on the poo stains as the probac just didn't work for me. Could I have a residue build up? Is that when I must wash with vinegar?
