Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

Nels_N do you know how the previous owner of the nappies cared for them? did they soak them? Did they use soap powder or softener? These are all important to know as it can drastically affect the performance of the nappy. When you wash today I would suggest throwing a cup of white vinegar and 4 tablepoons of bicarbonate of soda into the machine without using any soap powder to strip the nappies of any previous soap residue. i would then do a second Rinse cycle. Follow by a wash with a Soap free detergent like Enchantrix or Earthsap laundry liquid. If the nappies smell like amonia once your little one is using them or they leak it means there is still too much of soap or softener build up and you should strip them again. Please never soak these nappies. If you have much leaking then possibly the person that owned them before used to soak the covers and that degrades the waterproofing. If any of these problems occur I would consider asking for my money back as the product should not do that. It's always dicey buying second hand nappies unless you know exactly how they were cared for before. Did you get yourself some paper liners?

I have 8 BamBoo nappies from a ladie who was selliing her daughters ones for a low price. Amara's nanny is washing them today and will try them as off tomorrow. I also bought tea tree oil for rinsing.
I will look at the website today.
I must say am very excited and so is Dh, he wasn't so sure about it till I explained to him and showed him the nappies.
