Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

Thank you ladies for changing my view on cloth nappies! The Bamboo nappies are great. No leaks , dry bum. Dh is very happy with the results will def use cloth nappies for 2nd baba (in the futuer).

Some tea tree oil in the bucket could help protect form further problems, I rinse my bucket with very hot water and tee tree oil every time I wash nappies.

Did your baby perhaps have a thrush infection, little red dots on her bum or diaree that could have caused a fungus in the nappies? If my LG has spots on her bum, I rinse nappies in very hot water and wring out before putting them into the bucket.

I hope you get rid of the problem!! Let us know how it turns out.

Hasie, would you put the tea tree oil in the softener inlet of your washing machine? I do that sometimes - just ten drops. Is that enough or too little?

I rinse the bucket with hot water and about 10 drops of tea tree oil. Then just put about 10 drops into the bucket before I put nappies in.

I suppose one shot of bleach won't kill the nappies. I used to soak my bambino mio nappies in sterri nappy when I had Stefan and just started with cloth nappies and didn't know better. I did it for about 4 months (daily soaking!!). When I used them again for Claudia I stripped washed them a few times and they were as good as new. Haven't done bleach or steri nappy or soap again, apart from the damage it does to the nappies and the environment, it makes cloth nappies more expensive... But I'm sure once in a blue moon isn't gonna do to much damage.

Thanks Hasie. I haven't noticed any nappy rash. I usually put 5 drops of teatree oil on cotton wool at the bottom of the bucket...how much do you usually use?
I washed the nappies and left them out in the sun all day. They looked a bit better but then I decided to do something drastic and soaked them in bleach for 15 minutes and rinsed, washed, rinsed again. Hopefully that should do it?
