Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

I got Bloublommetjie washing liquid at Checkers Hyper. I'm in Cape Town area.

Amanda - where do you get the bloublommetjie washing liquid!!

I am so scared DH or maid are going to use the baby wash (woolies eco one on the nappies and ruin them as it also has softener in it!!) so I have written all over it in black marker "NOT FOR NAPPIES!" hee hee am I anal or what?!

@2kidmamma - no...it is a very very long story - in short i oredered them from UK...there was a little mishap with shipping etc and I landed up with 2 sets (only paid for one)!

So I am hoping to sell the other and use the money fro much other needed nursrey stuff!

Are you serious re the ecosoft??? That is what the sales lady told me to use!! Cannot believe it!

You can go to www.doodlebums.co.za to get Duki nappies. I also recommend Cherub Tree and Bumbeetle nappies.

Ecosoft has a built-in softener - that is what messed up your mother nature nappies. I made the same mistake and my Cherub Trees started losing their absorbency. I found some help on the New Zealand Cherub Tree site on how to "strip" them of the build-up. I'm busy doing that and they have improved but not 100% yet. So I'll do some more stripping

When I ordered my Bumbeetle nappies I received a leaflet on how to take care of your cloth nappies. They recommended Bloublommetjie washing liquid (amongst others they mentioned) which I now use (half the doze) and so far so good. Even after a double rinse they still smell of Bloublommetjies :-D

Hi all, I am new to this thread. I got 4 Duki nappies as a gift from a friend, as I am so tired of the cloth nappies, and she felt like encouraging me, and I must tell you it worked!! What a wonderful nappy. I used them on my toddler and my baby last night and they were dry skinned when they woke up, even Nathan has a horrid teething poop and I only needed one wipe to wash him!!

A short history(hope you find it interesting)...in beginning of 2008 we bought a set of Mother Nature nappies, and we used it from when Daniel was about 6 weeks old till he was 18 months old, then they died...according to Mother Nature I washed them wrong, which I cannot see, as I only used Ecosoft washing powder on them and never bleached them or used softner, they became like holders of acid and they were absorbent any more. So now we use them when I am out of cloth,

Currently I use a mix of disposables and the regular terry cloth nappies you buy at Woolies, and they work fine. I just got a bit tired of them, the washing etc, and then they can get so stained, so they do need bleach every so often, which my boys skin does not like, so I dont do it often, resulting in horribly stained nappies. Thus me having had enough. Anyhow, I am going to talk hubby into buying us some more dukis as Nathan is just turning a year old and we will still be in them for at least 2 more years.
