Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

Finished cutting out fleece covers/waterproofs last night. Have to sew them together today along with the nappies. I suppose my w/p should be a double layer of fleece hey? And then have to decide if I'm going to velcro or press-stud them together

Also got 2 top sheets to edge (I made 2 pretty ones, the rest I will buy plain - I'm too lazy to hem straight! )

I also have an old cane moses basket - no stand though - so depending on how creative Im feeling I might just see if I have enough material to sew some linen for it and either use it or sell it.

Claudia, they have such a huge selection over there it's not even funny. That is what my main aim was with doodlebums was to centralise as many options as possible. Unfortunately our country as with many other things is soooo far behind. I would love one day to have little shops also selling all products in one place but that is a whole other dream. You must see all the "Nappy" shops in some countries. You should do a search on You Tube for Austin baby. Some very interesting videos. Austin baby is a whole chain of Diaper Shops and they sell tons of brands.

I wish shaped cloth nappies wold become more mainstream...going to see my inlaws in the UK over christmas and was looking at the selection they have over there. Its incredible and things seem mostly a bit cheaper than here too:)

I actually use the terry squares still. They work great, just its annoying to fold them:)

You'll be fine with it Sarah! I also had a mixture at first and that helps to decide what works for you. I think the one size nappies are great for a bigger baby, but bulky on a small one.
In the end i liked the Bambino mio the most and the Stegi covers. So now I make my own bambino mio look alikes and use stegi covers...

Well, no-one has bothered me about them since I gave them a dirty look lol! I like the sized nappies coz I also feel that the one-size-fits -all is a bit bulky on a little. But I do have 2 cute all-in-ones that my hubby liked so bought them coz if he likes them he'll use them

I've been given a mixture of normal towelling (will keep those for either nappies or burp cloths. I've used terry squares before on bigger babies and never had any problems), Stegi and Bambino Mio. So will give them all a bash and I've been playing around to see if I can use them together - like a Stegi as a booster inside a BM - and it might just work!

Sarah, i got that all the time with my first baby!!! And it really irritated me. Then I just started saying: Well, I want to give it a try, and if it doesn't work out, then I haven't really lost much.

My sister wanted to start her twins on cloth, but never got started properly. She gave up before really trying because she started with disposables and wanted to switch at about 3 months. I think when you already have a routine, its harder to switch. But if your routine is cloth, then its easy to stick to it.

She also used, in my opinion, the wrong nappy. She didn't do much homework about it and just chose the cheapest option. She ended up selling all the nappies when the babies where about 8 months old, most of them where never even used. She asked me if I wanted to buy it, and I just said no thank you, I prefer making my own. I wasn't ready to try out her brand as I knew mine was working and hers took ages to dry and was one size form birth to potty training so it was very bulky on babies bottom.

I think put the potty in the bathroom next to your toilet, see if this doesn't help a little.
