Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

I think I have seen those biodegradable disposables at Dischem.

20 is a good amount of nappies to have.

About the all in one's, I'm not a fan... I like the fold up ones that is sized for different ages. It really isn't more trouble as washing is washing, and folding takes me the same time as it takes to take a disposable out and unfold it. You get used to it so quickly!

My LB is now 15 months old and I used disposables only in the hospital and then sporadically for emergencies, I almost never bought ant, my mother in law buys when she looks after LB as she thinks we use the cloth because we cant afford disposables...

I do think its easier to start with cloth straight away when you get home (i was super excited to get a cloth nappy on LB's bum!) then you set your routine right from the start and can't think of excuses to push the changing over to a bit later. My sister started her twins on disposables, thinking that she will change over at 3 months, it never happend. She sold the whole birth to potty MN set at half price when the twins where 8 months old as she never used it...

But do have a pack of disposables for back up in the beginning. You do have emergencies in the middle of the night when you just can't find a clean nappy or cover...

OOHHHH! Just seen the disposable, biodegradable ones on the site! But now am really really trying to figure out why the hell the rest of the world who wont use cloth are not using these???

Emsmom - The pro's on this site will have to help with quantities!! I know you can get the biodegradable disposables ones from Doodlebums! Not sure if you can get them locally in shops.

Lucy, I'll buy one or two bags of disposable - didn't know they had biodegradable ones! Where can i find those?

I wanted to have some disposable for when we go out etc. But for 99% of the time I'll use the cloth. I'm so so excited to get mine. Wish they had them as easy as this when I had Em.

I'm going to buy 1 or 2 nappies a month, and then ask for vouchers for doodlebums for my shower - I'm thinking I'll need about 20??

What do you ladies think?

Sarah and Gerne - Thanks for making me feels better with going the disposable route in the beginning. I will definately use those "better" ones though. I liked the "semblance of routine and organised chaos" and I am pretty sure it will be even more hectic than I imagined.
I have made a few big purchases this month (pram and angel care monitor) so I think the next biggy will be the nappies in a month or two. That will at least give me time to make the smaller ones!.

Is getting a few nappies from different makes a good idea to see what works or is it better to stick to one brand, get used to it and make it work?

I am also using disposable nappies for the first few weeks. Just to settle and get a routine going then well change. I already started with the small nappies, they are so cute, but theire not finished yet.
