Nothing wrong with using disposables for the first month - allow yourself to get used to baby and get into a semblance of routine and organised chaos first Or you could make your own for the first few weeks and go that route. You can also buy biodegradable disposable nappies if you are keen to do that instead for the first few weeks.

Well I just bought my first ever cloth nappy! Woo Hoo! A duki one from doodlebums I can't wait to try it out on the little one!

Sarah, if i may ask, do you make the fleece cover just with fleece like a normal proof? and then you put a waterproof over it? otherwise its gonna wet everything isnt it?

I would go mad if I had to stitch them all on! I need press-studs anyway to finish off my duvet cover, but it can wait for now. Must finish baby's quilt and sheets first!

I made my LB a night nappy, with 2 layers of fleece, 5 layers of toweling and a layer of velt. Its such a thick nappy LOL but it works great. Will have to make more then i wont be using disposables during the night too, yay!

Hmmm, press-studs sounding difficult now! I've not usually had a problem, but never used them on fleece either, only towelling and eventually the material rips. I always used the ones that you apply with the little hand tool or hammer. Maybe I will just stick to Snappi's. Afterall they will be night time covers so no-one is going to see really.

I'm not making any all-in-ones till baby arrives and see how fat she is lol so going to make some fleece covers that can just go over a nappy and I can add lots of soaker layers inside! Poor child will look like a Sumo Wrestler!

i must say im struggling to come right with the press studs. I looked for the 'poppers gun' and found one for R70. Tried it in store and we couldnt get it to work so i went to another store and bought one that was different. still it didnt want to close the poppers nicely so that they dont fall out. now i dont know what to do .
