Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

Gerne, you can buy the Biowashball through me on the Doodlebums site. It costs R480 and lasts for up to 1000 or around 3 years washes. It totally replaces soap and softner and uses the effect of powerful ions to clean textiles and softens the water at the same time. I don't use any softener in any of my washing. Softener will damage the ball.

Yes I use the Vinegar and Bicarb in my wash. Sometimes just the Bicarb is enough though.

Please tell me more about the biowash ball? i dont know it at all. does it replace the soap? Maybe i should also get one.

I unfortunately dont have a dryer so will ask the nanny to just give them a quick rub with her hands before she uses them .

I actually hope i can replace the velcro with poppers as soon as i get the right poppers gun.

Like 2kidmama, I also use a Biowashball for all my washing (Thanks Moomie for that!) so I don't add softener. When the nappies dry out in the hot sun they are bit hard, so I also quickly spin them in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes to soften them. But our nanny never does this and Finn has yet to complain when wearing an 'unsoftened' nappy!

Yes, you turn the long inner flap down. About 2/3rds for a boy, and apparently in half for a girl. I think its about doubling it where the nappy needs to absorb the most wee.

Claudia_B - what brand are your popper waterproofs from the UK? I'd love to see if they're online, maybe my sister-in-law can bring one for me when she comes over for a visit.

The hard texture is from thw washing and not using softner. What you can do is add a quarter cup of white vinegar and some Bicarbonate of soda when you wash your nappies, this acts as a wonderful softner. also giving then a few minutes spin in the tumble dryer wil help. i use the biowashball and that has a clever scientific way of softening water so my MN nappies aren't hard except if they hang out in the glearing sun all day long. Mother Nature waterproofs just don't do it for me.... aweful aweful aweful velcro. If I were you I would just take it off and sew your own on from the start. Also remember not to soak the waterproofs or you may as well throw them away.

I got my MN set this weekend, i was so impressed, its the first nappies ive bought (the other ones are all home made) so it was nice to see how they are. They are very thick and absorbent.

Just one question, the inner piece is longer than the nappy itself right, so do i just fold it in if i use it on my LO?

I saw the velcro on the proofs was a bit worn and one was loose so ill need to stitch it close again. But i think it wont be that hard to replace the velcro if i need to.

Also they have a very hard texture, is that normal? they wont hurt my baby ??
