Help- I'm officially a cloth nappy user!!

Lucy W, Cherub Tree SA Ideally don't sell the inners seperately but it can be arranged but the price is about R80. The Nappy itself comes with two inserts. The other day I was at AmandaShade who chats here too and she showed me some microfibre faceclothes she bought I think a the Crazy Store and that is exactly the same material the inserts of the cherub tree are made of. If you bought a few of those and sewed them together you could make your own inserts.

We also got given a lot of the big stuff so I started putting money side and buying nappies early on. I started sewing some little nappies but my sewing machine broke so have to wait till my mum comes up from Durbs with hers or borrow from someone up here.

Claudia - Ooooo I liked the look of the cherub tree ones too. I was kind of thinking along those lines. The biggest drawback seemed to be that they are a bit bulky for newborns so I thought I could "copy" them smaller and just use the inners in them. The international website says you can even buy the inners separately. Did you get the velcro or popper ones?
My sister also lives in the UK and she is coming for christmas .......!!!

Anina - I hear what you are saying about the expense. I do plan on copying them. To stick with it I know I have to make it ultra easy. I have saved so much by buying a 2nd hand pram and getting hand me down compactum, campcot and moses basket that I am prepared to make a bit of an outlay for the nappies.

2KidM - Are you planning on getting the cherub tree inners?

I use the BM swim nappy, it works fine. Its just like underpants, will catch the poo but pee will go though. Stefan wheres it under his swimsuit and has luckily never had a poo in them...

@ Bronz, I dont know about BM exactly, but I use the Mother Nature swim nappy and its great. - it looks similar to the BM, It compulsary for swimming lessons to have a swim nappy and the little swimmers from huggies are very expensive.

Lucy, I use the Mother Nature 1 size fits all and I like them. I have found that the covers vercro goes funny very quickly, so have bought covers from the UK which are also 1 size fits all, but use poppers instead. My sisterin law is sending them over (along with my organic salt and preservative free baby stock cubes)
They do take a while to dry, but it hasnt been a problem.

I also have the all in one, one size cherub tree nappies (5 of them) which I LOVE. I would have bought more, but only discovered them recently and already have a whole supply of the MN ones. They are great. Because they come apart they are quick to dry, the fleece inner has a stay dry feel, the microfleece inner and hemp are very absorbant. To me they are about as close to a disposable as you can get. They are a bit more expensive, but then because they are one size fits all you shouldnt have to buy anything more.

They are more blky on bums, but I love big bums:) James doent feel right in disposables.

The seventh generation from dischem are bleach free, but from what I have read the moltex and bambo are more eco friendly. I always carry 2 disposables on me for in case (like yesterday I was out longer than anticipated so had only packed 2 extra cloth nappies and James decided to have a poo full day:)) They are less bulky in the nappy bag. James is now 5 months old and I used half a pack of the size 1 (pampers that were given to me at my baby shower) and am now using the 7th generation. I was given a free Bambo sample, and liked it a lot. Will probably get that for the next size...
