This is his 1st BLW meal, we sliced a peach for him. The peach was soft so he ate it nicely, only the skin was left by the end of his lunch!!

Promise to post some pics soon as I can
Iv stopped feeding him BLW for now coz I dnt have a feeding chair & he gets soooo distracted!! Like for supper Im having my food & I put him on the sofa (we eat infront of the tv, but soon as I get a feeding chair we will finally use th dining room table!!!) & put his plate infront of him.
Instead of eating his food, he wants mine!!
Even if I put his food on my plate, he still ignores his & takes mine,
The other day we were having dumplings & stew & he was supposed to have carrots, but wanted my food. I put him on my lap & he goes for my dumplings. Im quiet relaxed with my parenting so I let him take the dumpling just to see what he wld do with it. Well he put it in his mouth & was sucking & chewing away. He ended up gagging on it, so i told DH not to panick, then he started coughing while gagging, yho, I panicked. Started putting in upside down on my arm & slapping him btwn the shoulder blades, poor thing started crying. He spat out what he was gagging on.
Turns out I overreacted though. When a baby is coughing, its not choking!!!! If Id given him a chance he would have spat the food out anyway.
He had green beans the following day, ate them nicely. I let him feed himself during lunch though.
Am buying the chair end of month. Now he has baby oats for supper & purity for bfast.
After reading B's reactions to purity, I might not give it to him. It does taste terrible, Iv tasted it

Let me start by saying, it has been a busy week and today (Friday) I started winding down when hubby got home at 2pm, so by 5 I didn't know what to make for dinner. DH said, lets make hamburgers and I jumped at the thought.

So we went to the store to buy buns and I told DH that I didn't know what to feed B tonight, so a bad thought occurred to me - why don't we buy B some toddler purity (stage 4) then I don't have to worry about what to feed her and she can have a taste of something new.

We got home, I heated it up, sat her in her feeding chair and she got so excited (she loves eating), the first 5 spoons went really well, then she started shuddering (in afrikaans you call it 'gril') for every spoon, then she gagged as I have never seen her gag before (I have seen this child gag often but nothing as bad as this) she took two or three more bites, turned away from me and puked everything out that was in her tummy. (first time in her life that she has ever puked)

She was so out of sorts after that, I sat with her in front of the tv (waiting for her pasta to finish) and she didn't move, just put her head on my shoulder. I felt SO guilty!

I know it wasn't the lumps, she is use to chewing pieces of food, it wasn't the texture because she ate thickish soups before and it wasn't past its sell by date, she isn't sick because she had pasta, cheese and cucumber afterwards.

DH says the stuff tastes like cheap canned spaghetti and meatballs, the type that tastes more like wet flour than anything resembling real food. Here's what I think, B is so use to good/healthy/fresh food that the crap (purity) was almost as bad as giving a person who eats only healthy food a Macdonalds burger (oh puke)

My personal opinion is that purity is the 'takeaways' of baby food. I still feel guilty, I held her and kept repeating 'I'm so sorry'. Just goes to show, and makes you wonder what's in that easy little pot....

That is great Jems. I can picture him already!!
BLW gets me soo xcited, mara :silly:
Have decided to just give Ruru fruit & veg till he is 6 months old. Its a bit too early for him to b feeding himself, let alone sitting!!
A part of me is like have more faith in him & what he can tolerate. A part of me is like lets play safe

Now my lil monster is trying to crawl. he's been doing it for a while. He shuffles on his tummy. He dsnt go very far though, but far enough to fall off the sofa (caught him as he was falling yest!!)
He draws his knees up towards his tummy, lifts his bum in the air & pushes himself forward :)
I want him to slow down though, he's going too fast for my liking

Troy had a piece of chicken last night - was doing great and sucking it and chewing a bit but then all of sudden he started gagging on it and then upchucked.

I was fine. Hubby panicked. Troy didn't mind too much.
