file Feeding your baby BLW style

Sarah, I have to say, with regards to this - I love being weird. I've seen the benefits and yes for us it's still early and perhaps she will go through a picky eating stage but she's almost 1 and if she goes off milk now I know that she is getting the best.

Not only that but for us (hubby and I) it has been amazing in that we changed the way we eat, so as a family we are eating healthy and at regular times. I'm not saying it is easy, as it is very hard to cook with a screaming almost one year old haning on to your pants but I do it often (when hubby is working late) because I know it is for the best.

And how can you beat this: She just had scrambled eggs, cucumber and a piece of cheese for lunch while I cleaned the kitchen! Imagine my frustration if I had to sit with her feeding her with a fight at every bite.

I'm hoping to do this with my baby. In all my previous positions, the mums were my boss so of course it was their say when and how solids were introduced. I do remember though that I would early on encourage baby to feed themselves and offer different foods on a plate for them to choose - and allow them to nibble of my plate if they seemed interested! One little boy tried curry and rice off my plate and LOVED it - he was about 6 months old and lunged for my plate so I let him have it and he really enjoyed it.

Hopefully hubby won't think I'm too 'strange' lol! He's already accepted the cloth nappy idea so far and knows I don't want to introduce solids too early so you never know :D

@Marijke - I've ordered my copy of the BLW book from Kalahari.net - I should have it within 11 days or so.

Connor is almost 4 months old and I am holding off on solids until at least 5/6 months and hope to lear alot about the BLW methods - hope you'll be up to answering all my questions, he he he

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed

That's what my MIL said to about breastfeeding. There were no support 30 years ago at all. And not books/forums/websites. We are very lucky to have all this info at our disposal.

Just as a little side note;

My mother loves watching B feed herself almost as much as I do. When in a restaurant she's the first to pull something off her plate and hand it to B. So I asked her why (36,33 and 27 years ago) she didn't do it with us. Her answer to me was simple: They didn't have the resources we have now, who should have told them about something like this. They went with what everyone else was doing and what the doctor and nurses told them to do, but as she said looking back now she's very sad that she didn't know about it.
