Marijke, That is the cutest pic ever. Looks like she is enjoying her icy. I also feel not to force feed. If they are hungry, they will eat and if they dont want to, I leave it. Will try later again. How do you make those lollies?

Sarah, I think she was pregnant at the time of commenting and her baby is still only a couple of months old, so I will get her back when her child starts eating!

Marijke - I wonder if that person who commented has kids? Or if they are one of the mommies who complain about their child eating fruit and veg? I used to make ice-lollies from almost anything I could puree and freeze lol! Because some days that is all they will eat :D There was period where my one boy was only eating FROZEN peas carrots and corn and eating icelollies made from puree apple and strawberries!!!

@Marijke = she looks adorable! I can't wait to get the book now so I can start reading all about it!! I've worked through all your posts at the beginning of this post, very very interesting reading...

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed

I just thought of something I wanted to share. Something that gets my marbles all in a twist.

I have this picture of B on FB, it is her having a frozen yoghurt lolly after dinner, she was about 8 or 9 months

And someone commented on it saying "looks more like she hasn't finished her food yet"
I thought to give some snotty remark but just left it.

But that is just the point. B gets no rewards for eating 'all' her food. Some days she eats very little and we have yoghurt after dinner and other days she eats a lot and still gets a little yoghurt (or whatever we have in the house that might be thought of as dessert) We also don't have dessert every day, so she doesn't hold out for it or expect it.

I really don't want to distort her attitude to food, if she is hungry, she eats, if she doesn't I don't want to bribe her, perhaps she isn't hungry and I should trust her to know that. What message would it be sending if I force her to eat when she isn't hungry and then reward her with something yummy for being a good girl...

Sarah, I have to say, with regards to this - I love being weird. I've seen the benefits and yes for us it's still early and perhaps she will go through a picky eating stage but she's almost 1 and if she goes off milk now I know that she is getting the best.

Not only that but for us (hubby and I) it has been amazing in that we changed the way we eat, so as a family we are eating healthy and at regular times. I'm not saying it is easy, as it is very hard to cook with a screaming almost one year old haning on to your pants but I do it often (when hubby is working late) because I know it is for the best.

And how can you beat this: She just had scrambled eggs, cucumber and a piece of cheese for lunch while I cleaned the kitchen! Imagine my frustration if I had to sit with her feeding her with a fight at every bite.

My hubby calls me his pet 'freak' :woohoo:  He already knows I'm odd and I like being different. I often think about things that are taken as 'normal' nowdays and think about how they used to be done and how that was considered 'normal'. What is normal anyway?

My charges used to feed themselves snacks from as early as possible (Cheerios are awesome for this lol!) and they used to often have cheese sticks and fruit and veg chopped up but their 'real' meals were home cooked and fed to them coz thats what mommies wanted. When they started grabbing the spoon, I would give their own and let them try feeding themselves (a huge mess but seeing as I had to clean it up anyway I didn't mind). I miss my babies...
