Wow, good appetite!
I.cant.believe.your, little b ('see little B') got her butt kicked so badly at creche, it COMPLETELY scares me to DEATH to think about Jude getting sick!! It all sounds too much. I hope hope hope it goes better for you this year. (because after all, it's us moms that 'really' suffer. lol. I'm a terrible mom btw)
Anyway, Jude is still doing famously, will eat anything, but I've read loads about toddlers being super fussy 'all of a sardine'
Speaking of which, I have gotten some organic eggs from ww (R18,00!! for six, eish) and started making little frickedels and freezing them in little separate containers for "those" moments.
Sardines are apparently the safest fish source (virtually no mercury) so I use them to make fish cakes.
And when making bolognaise, I do little bolognaise frikedels for him.
Any other ideas? Guys! xx

I have been meaning to do an update from my side for a while now but just never get to it, so here it is – 06/01/2011

B is now 17 months 6 days - or something like that! She started crèche every day till 2 the second week of November (15.5months) and she loves it. I thought being a stay at home mom was/is the best thing I could do for my child (and I still think that) but when B started getting sick (and boy did she get sick!) I started to doubt how good it really was to never come in contact with germs (not never but you know what I mean) My first 3 weeks at work, I spent more time home than at work. She had a stomach bug for a week and a half, flu with fevers up to 40 degrees for a week and a half which ended with antibiotics because of her eardrums being at the point of bursting, runny tummy, more vomiting, severe coughing, lost her voice and had lovely chickenpox.

Today all the pox have scabs and most have fallen off and her voice has finally returned – school for her starts on Monday, I’m hoping it will be better this year but somehow I think I’m kidding myself.

So with regards to BLW it was really difficult with her being so sick and having lunch at daycare. I don’t know what she eats or how much but there were a lot of dinners that she refused to eat.. At 15 months I noticed that she started to become more reluctant to try foods she’s never eaten before.

She also sometimes takes food off her plate and throws it on the floor (with a menacing smile) to see my reaction. But I never react to it and she looses interest. If I do react I end up having to pick her whole plate of food off the floor.

I don’t really like summer but summer lunches are still the best thing to prepare and food on the plate you see in the pic is usually what she finishes per meal.

A big thank you to those who kept in touch via facebook. I’m still subscribed to this thread so keep your stories and pics coming!

Hey stacey! Welcome, love the pic of your little guy.

I haven't been online in a while, especially with this time of the year and working - I always prefer not to use the internet when I should be working ;)

So far the BLW moms who need advice usually find me on facebook, so if anyone needs something, please feel free. I'll change my email and keep my eye on the thread a bit better.

But I see Claudia is doing a great job answering questions, thanks Claudia!

Welcome Stacey:)

You can give egg, just male sure its well cooked (no uncooked whites) because of the risk of salmanella.

If there is a family history of allergies just be careful of that food, - to be honest ven thought there is no food allergies in my family I watched very closely hen I gave "allergenic food", but James has had wheat, dairy, peanut butter, fih, strawberries etc...

Whole milk to drink is not advised until one, but you can give it added to wheatbix etc.

Honey try avoid until older because it can carry botulism:)

Hi Ladies,

WOW ive been reading this topic all day! I have absolutely loved it!

@Marijke - Thank you so much for all your input and for initiating this forum!

My Baby boy (asher) is just over 7 months. He started off eating pureed food with no problems then after about a month just wouldnt let me bring a spoon close to his mouth! I really started stressing, then found out about BLW feeding.

I find it a bit scary - but it seems to be the only way my baba will eat. He is getting much beter - we have only been doing it for a few weeks, but i try give him some pureed food in between as i was worried he was not getting enuf food. However after reading this forum - i guess they will eat as much as they need to.

he really loves cheese, toast, any fruit, avo - we are getting there.

regarding eggs - is it "safe" to give the entire egg - ie yolkand white. Is there anything that is not really "safe" to give LO now?

Thanx again ladies for this FANTASTIC topic!

Ive attached a pic of my Angel eating brocolli :)
