Hi There

Please join the vbac in SA facebook page, it is a closed group with very supportive mommies, I am sure there is someone who would be able to assist you :)

Hopefully Sue King could assist but I think there might also be a midwife in Bloemfontein who would assist with a vba3c, Yolande Maritz, they are both members of the group.

I hope you find someone who can assist you!

Hi all. I am not pregnant yet (very far from it) I have had 3 csections. The first one my obgyn insisted that we do a csection asap at 36 weeks due to my sons size, 4.5kgs. She said I would never be able to push such a big baby out naturally. Young and uneducated on my birthing rights I trusted her. Needless to say it was a horrible experience where I started haemorrhaging badly and I was not able to see my son for hours afterwards. 2nd csection was 3 years later in 2010. Also a very very bad experience. I went into labour at 36/37 weeks. I begged for a vbac but was told I am selfishly putting my sons life at risk. 2012 I had my last csec. It went better but due to my fear of csections I decided with the encouragement of my obgyn that I must have my tubes tied. Now I have educated myself about VBACS and I see that it can be done. We are doing a tubal reversal now in a few weeks time but I want to find a midwife who will be on board with my choice of a vba3c. I want to avoid a csection unless its necessary. Anyone know if Sue King has done vba3c's?? Or any other midwife in the jhb/pta area that will help me? I have contacted a few and they all suggested Sue King. I am so scared to get my hopes up.

Hi Ladies!!!

Just a super quick short update!!!

I had my beautiful baby girl sunday morning 8:00!! It was a relatively long labour, but it felt like 7 hours and not 15! It was the most amazing positive experience although one of the most intense things I have ever done! Baby was 3.73 kg...much more than everyone predicted. She is in good health and we were discharged 3 hours after she was born. I feel a bit like a horse kicked me in the butt, but all well and grateful. B)

Will try and come and update here again ASAP and would love to hear how everyone else is doing. I have only had the privilege of one 5 min shower and one Salt sitz bath yet...so forgive me if I am scarce.

So immensely grateful for the VBAC!!! A dream come true!!!!

Hi Ladies!

Welcome Tracey!! So exciting that you can join us here. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.

Marijke, No...we haven't heard anything from Nelsn again...We hope that all is well with her and baby.

I have a terrible cold and feel quite worn out at the moment. But I think my runny tummy was due to traveling on a bumpy dirt road perhaps and not signs of labour. I am having on and off practice labour, pain in the lower pelvis, but no pattern to anything. Hoping that she stays put that I have a chance to recover from this cold!! Otherwise doctor happy with baby and all seems well. Baby weighs in at around 2,8 kg. Doctor said my cervix is central and soft, but no opening yet. She estimated earliest this weekend or next week. :)

Going for a reflexology session on tuesday morning and midwife checkup.

Hope everyone else is still doing well??
