Shame Annie, how frustrating.
It is best to take baby out during their "awake time". If you do take them out try to stick to "routine" w.r.t. when she naps and baths. When I take Vica out we take a carry cot if it falls during her nap time.
All babies are different. If you expose them to the social side of life I think they tend to be more social (like it). If you stay home all the time I think they could end up preferring to be at home. That's just my opinion, don't quote me.
At 4 months baby approximately feeds 3 hourly with an awake time of 1 and a half hours. So after every nap, quickly feed her and you have an hour to go out!
Sometimes if we're in the mood to walk around in a shopping centre (or anywhere you can walk with a pram) we do it when Vica must sleep. We have a tandem pram, so Dieter sits in front (wide awake) and Vica lies flat in the back seat sleeping, fully covered (dark).
Few things we do.
I did the BAbylove program with my son when he was about 8 months old as I struggled with his day time naps. It has helped me tremendously. BabyLove is very strict routine program which I did not follow 100%. I only wanted my son to go down easier during day time naps.
With Vica it is so much different because she is prem. I have to work out her awake time according to her corrected age (almost 4 months). On Wednesday she is 6 months old real age! :-o If she wasn't prem and 6 months old, she would've had 2 hour awake time.
Why am I rambling about this? Sorry!
Whenever you take Tallulah out, just make sure that she stays in her sleep, awake, feed pattern. And try to copy her sleep environment as it is at home.
Should help.
You can even put her in a wrap close to your chest or a carrier if she prefers to be close to you to relax.
You're doing a great job Annie. We are all wonderful mothers.
You should feel like a hero. Because every time you go to pick up your little one their face lit up like you've just done the most awesome thing in the world - and you have - you're a mommy to your precious baby x
