Carlene - about smiles, I've seen it on my husband's kids, it depends on baby personality, some smile and laugh a lot and some almost never. The later grow up into intravertive, creative thinkers and quite loveable the way they are! :)

Happy Easter everyone!

Today Tallulah is 3 months. Went to paediatrician check-up, she is 5.6kg and 64 cm tall. He changed her formula from NAN HA to Isomil soya, apparently she is milk intolerant, that’s why so much wind. Plus milk caused eczema on her neck, but it cleared already after 3 days on soya, poor baby. She laughs a lot, plays with her hands and reaches for objects, so beginning to be lots of fun, but quite demanding for interaction, wants to be on my hands all day long. She started sleeping 8 hours through the night, getting in bed at 9-10 pm and waking up 5-6 am. I never put her into any schedule or routine, she does her own thing. At times she goes to bed at 7 pm and wakes up 3 am for a feed, but still sleeps 8 hours which is heaven for me.

Juandre - congratulations! Awesome job with breastfeeding! Wow, but to manage 3 kids now that must be a challenge. Keeping that in mind, will we ever see you posting again? :)

Vision - Leah is a mighty baby, well done!

Carlene - wow, 6kg is awesome, yea GPs seem to know nothing, I got that impression too. So, paediatricians are more expensive for a reason, they know the craft. :) Chiropractor didn't help Tallulah, though we went for 5 sessions, I guess they cry for various reasons, spinal discomfort is only one of them. I haven't seen Semi Soet, but if it is in Afrikaans, than that might be the reason, I don't understand Afrikaans, I am Russian and managed to only learn English in 13 years in SA. I never heard of Universal baby language, but it seems like I do feel the difference between noises Tallulah makes, and learn to interpert them. It does make sense that someone picked it up and made a science out of it.

Miss Kay - welcome, looks like you are doing well with Nkosinathi.

Jolene - congratulations of a birth of Danika (nice name!). Heh, I'd also thrive on condensed milk, I wish I could eat a can a day and don't put on weight! I never experiensed major changes during growth spurts, Tallulah seems to eat alot during the day and all the time for 3 months, so how do you differ one day from the other? They are little eating monsters and grow like mushrooms! :)

Good morning all you wonderfull mommies and mommies-to-be, if their is any more.

Congrats to all the new mommies on the birth of their babies. Hope you all are enjoying your little bundles of joy.

I was mia for long, but stayed up to date with my phone. Just had a little to catch up on.

Danika was born on 13 March, at 14:20, wheighed 3.510kg and 50 cm. She is a real champ with the breastfeeding, but must be because this mommie's got condensmilk ;) .
When we were discharged, she weighed 3,250kg. After 1 week, picked up to 3,8 and on monday when we had her weighed, se was a huge 4,2 at 3 weeks of age. ( thats what my "condensmilk" is doing ......lol) She sleeps well too. Normally she has a 4 to 5 hour sleep at night (only wakes once), or maybe twice. I am enjoying my little angel very much.

Has any of you experienced any major change during the 3 week growth spurt? All Danika wanted to do yesterday was drink, almost every hour. But we will surely see the results with the next clinic visit.

Hi Girls

Sorry for being MIA. It was a hectic few weeks for me, between Mia, Emma’s birthday parties, packing and the house stuff. But hopefully everything will be back to normal.

Well, Emma enjoyed her birthday parties. It was a Winnie the pooh theme.
She also went to school for the first time today. I actually thought that she was going to cry, because she said I must go with her, and when I said I can’t she said that Grandma can go with her. But, this morning, I went in with her, and I told her that I must go now, but that I will be back soon to come and pick her up. So she kissed me and there she went. I felt so lonely. My little girl is growing up so fast.

Mia is also doing great. We had a rough time, driving up and down to take her to a chiropractor, and I must say, it did wonders. She also had a rash on her face. I took her to a GP and he said it is just heat rash. The next day her face was red and swollen, so I took her to the paediatrician and it turned out to be some sort of eczema. She gave me some ointment and it was gone within two days. I will never go back to that GP again. Mia also went for her vaccinations on Monday. I’m taking her for the 6 in 1, and they usually do that at 8 weeks and not six. She weighs 6kg now, so she picked up just under 2kg in the two months. She’s not drinking well at the moment, don’t know why. I’m actually thinking that is maybe teething. I know it seems very early, but she had some nasty nappies for a few days, with some nappy. But I guess I will have to wait and see. Emma had her first tooth at 5 months.

I’m so jealous of all the girls that brag with the little ones smiles. Mia is so stingy with hers. She gave me one 5h in the morning about two weeks ago and that after she was awake for three hours. I told her she must sleep now Mommy is tired and she gave this big smile. And that was that. But I got one today again, so hopefully it will go better from now on. At least she is starting to burp herself now. I don’t know if it is the medicine I’m giving her, but you just pick her up and out it come. No more patting her back for hours. Annie/Angi and all the rest that is struggling with the winds and cramps, I’m using a colic mixture of a pharmacy in Vereeniging, and like I said, since I’m using that, Mia is much better with the winds and cramps. I can give you the number if you want it. It is R40 a bottle plus postage.

I don’t know if any of you heard about the “Dunstan baby talk” It is a lady that started to listen to her baby and she realised that babies “talk” a universal language. It is 5 different “words” or sounds and each of them means something different. One for hunger, one for upper winds, one for lower winds, one for tired and then one for dirty nappy or cold or warm. It does take a while to hear the sounds especially if you are not very musical like I am. But, now I can tell when Mia is crying or complaining, what she is trying to tell me.

For the injections you can put some Emla on the place where they will get the injection an hour before the time. It does help a little. I did it with Emma and she hardly ever cried. I know that the Prevenar do burn when it goes in, so they might still cry, but at least they won’t feel the needle.

Annie, it must be nice to see a film that you know your husband directed. I don’t know if you saw “Semi Soet” My husband’s cousin Anel is playing the lead roll and she and her husband produced the film. So it was nice for me to watch a good quality film and to know that it is family.
Well, it is time for Mia’s feed, and then I’m off to bed. Will try and post some photo’s soon.

Enjoy your little ones.
