Jan/Feb/Mrch 2012 Momies to Be

Hello Ladies,

We had a good but busy weekend. We did the photoshoot on Saturday morning, and got some lovely photo's, at least I only have to wait 10 days to get them! So excited! We had my mom's Christmas lunch on Saturday afternoon, and got home very late, needless to say my DH was sloshed! Sunday morning we got up early and went to the baby expo. Got a couple of nice things, mostly my JJ Cole Bag for R350.00! Then had an afternoon nap, drop Jamie off at my sister and then we went for a movie. Watched Breaking Dawn, really enjoyed it can't wait for the second one. Might have to read the book again!

I have my appointment tomorrow morning, looking forward to seeing Reagan. Also going to sign the contracts today for the new house, and also it is DH's Birthday today, so going for dinner tonight.

Ash - you got some nice things. I still need to pack my bags, have been putting it off because I am scared I might jinx it and Reagan comes in two weeks like Jamie did! I know being really stupid....

Sounds like you got a lot of presents Ashleigh!! Not a lot to buy left.
Re the new house. yes, it's quite a lot - they basically have to take out all the tiles from the stairs and top floor, we are closing a part which was double volume, so putting in an extra slab, then they have to screet the floors and fix some of the walls. Then we can start with the painting inside, going to put in laminated wood flooring and new cupboards. Outside they have to build a new boundary wall, and treat the wooden windows and paint the whole house as well. Have to put in stove and geisers as well - decided to go the gas route with both(stove is electric and gas). Still have to get an occupational certificate before we can get the electricity connected as well. So it's a lot! The timing is difficult with most places closing down over Christmas. Have to order the blinds for example before Wednesday - otherwise they close and only open mid Jan again, and then the manufacturing takes 4 weeks, so we wont get it in time for end of Jan. We mostly have blinds in our house now, so it's not like I have something to cover the windows with!. It's just not the nicest thing to walk around looking for tiles etc with my big pregnant belly, so I made a quick decision yesterday re the tiles
But I'm sure we will get everything sorted.

Morning ladies,

Had a very nice baby shower. I got nappies,wet wipes, lotion, powder and baby wash, a very nice nappy bag, 2 tommie tippie bottles, spoegdoeke, facecloth, photo frame and album and clothes.

I took some of the clothes back to edgars yesterday and got 3 newborn baby grows for when baby is born, socks and another nappy bag which came with a dummy chain that i really liked. My mom bought me 2 more pink tommie tippie bottles and a breastfeeding pillow.

I still need nuk dummies and need go buy material so that the duvet cover for the camping cot can get embroided and made.

I unpacked all Z clothes that I had put away and I have started to sort out the cupboard and chest of drawers so that both girls clothes fit. At one one stage our garage was a play room I need to sort that out so it becomes 1 again because there is no space for all the toys in the room as well.

Amanda - did you get nice things?

Maureen - did you enjoy your photo shoot?

Mandy I also have a angel care monitor but Zaylee stayed in our room until 8 months.

Zelf- Does alot need to get done at your new house?

I want to get bags packed for myself and baby just i case something happens. I want to be prepared. I hate being disorganised.

I experieced alot of braxton hicks yesterday whilst shopping. I think I over did it with too much walking.

Ashleigh - how was your shower? Did you get nice gifts and everything you needed? Your dentist experience sounds like one from hell .

Mandy - I LOVE my Angel care monitor - it just gives you that peace of mind! I only moved the boys to their own room at about 9 months . I use their room for nappy changes, play time etc, but they sleep in our room till about 9 months.
By that time I need my own space again! I see on another thread you are struggling with a pram? Good luck - hope you find the right one! (We bought Peg Perego with our first born - used it a lot with both boys, and still in a very good condition to use for Millay!)

Amanda - sorry for the windy Babyshower - at least you had a nice time at home! Did Vica got nice presents? Give her time with the breastfeeding, she needs to get used to it. At least you can start trying! It sounds like she is doing really good though? I read your post on FB last night - I had a few tears. Janu was born at 35 weeks, only in NICU for 4 days(not even slightly comparable to Vica), but I told everybody that that is an experience I don't wish on anybody. After having a "normal" experience with my first one, that was such an eye opener! So, my heart goes out to you Amanda! It must be really difficult.

We had a busy weekend seeing people at our new house, getting qoutes etc. Exciting - but scary as well! Bought my new stove yesterday - I was happy to settle for a Defy, but the sales person persuided DH that the SMEG is much better qaulity! I am happy, because the oven is much nicer than the Defy!

Finished Millay's little nook in our room, will take photos this afternoon and post. Finished packing our hospital bags as well, so just have to put in the last minute things before we go to hospital. All done! Getting very excited now

We had my babyshower at Tygerberg nature reserve and it was so windy. It was really unpleasant. Marius (hubby) fired the canon on the hill to mark the occasion but then we went to our place afterwards and our friends joined for coffee and tea. So the part at home was much nicer. Although my house was a super mess ha ha ha, didn't expect people! :-D ha ha ha

I hope to have Vica home by her due date (16 January 2012). She must be off all her drips and oxygen and breastfeed. If all goes well, today we'll try breastfeeding for the first time. I am nervous - that little mouth is super tiny which means she'll end up sucking the tip of my nipple - OUCH!

Hello ladies

Well Im off to a friends baby shower today in a minute.. so just thought id pop my head in.. Amanda - enjoy yours - super special since Vica is already here! How big is she and when do they say you might get her home at this point? Ashleigh, have a good shower too!

Maureen - happy 30 weeks! enjoy the shoot, and let us know what you liked at the expo!

Vision - your little girl is gorgeous.. good luck with the big tidy up! we have an empty bedroom and im gonna start collecting bunnies as my theme for Jennas room. Im not too fussed to get the room ready since i know that she wont be in there for a while, so I am focusing on getting christmas stuff ready and the hospital bags and as I find nice things I will collect .. Cameron my first born went into his own room at about 10 weeks.. but i have a feeling this one will be about 4 weeks in, as I have a proper angel monitor this time around. Last time dh moved out of our room into the babys toom while baby was with me as he was getting NO sleep.. and there was no point in us both getting no sleep! so when i needed a break he was well rested to give me one!

Carolsch - hope you have had your pizza by now! IF I have a craving, my hubby just has to deliver! no option, so i hope you speak up and tell hubby that its REQUIRED!

I'd be one of those babyshower girls, lol. Having mine today at the Tygerberg nature reserve - picnic.

Sorry I haven't read everybody's posts yet, life is a tad busier currently... but Vica is doing good and I might get to try to breastfeed her tomorrow :-o her mouth is so tiny I am worried!
