Hi Ladies

Joybaby felt baby for the first time last Thursday morning. Yes it seems we are the closest in regard to due date.
Last night I woke up to excruciating left side pain, lasted about 3 minutes. I don't know if it was because I was sleping on my left side.
I love the name Eli.
I was thinking if its a girl then probably will go with "Skylar", and if it's a boy then "Seth". I've told hubby that I get to choose the first name, as baby will have his surname. (I kept my surname when I got married)

Belaine - Yes out with the winter stuff, and keep us posted after your scan. Mine is next Friday, and I'm just so anxious.

I went shopping for pjs and picked up nice warm ones from Jam Clothing for R55 a set.

I also need flat winter boots, as all my boots have heels (very high), but will shop for those over the weekend.

JB I am also growing. I've had some people at work come up to me and ask whether I was pregnant. I can't hide it anymore, as the buttons on my winter jackets don't close.

I have been waking up about 4 times at night, as sleeping is very uncomfortable. And it's so cold early mornings to get out of bed. I wish I could sleep longer in the mornings. I actually look forward to Saturday mornings so that I can sleep in a bit longer.

the winter is here in his full glory!! but i dont mind it has to come so that it can go again.
im having my maid washed our bedding so that i can put on some winter ones.

Very busy at work im so cross i really worked hard to sort out the debtors and didnt even got a thank you they use one packhouse for 3 farms so imagine the paper work and excell sheets. JB if you were close i would let them appoint you as my assistant!!

Scan is creeping closer yippee!! cant wait to see our lo!!

JB small world indeed i saw eileen is a mutual friend on fb. ja 3 girls poor Neil.. but the wedding i attended they are a family of 7 now with 5 girls....

Belaine shame it must be so heartbreaking to lose your spouse! Losing my spouse or children is my biggest fear.

Ginah with Kaylee's heart, there is risk of developing a condition called Endocarditis whenever she picks up a bacterial infection.
So with her, each time she gets flu or a throat infection we must treat with antibiotics to protect her heart. The same applies for infections on the skin such as scratches by animals, and before she goes for any dentistry work she has to go onto antibiotics too. So we just dont take a chance anymore. We are finding one that works extremely well called Zannat. But we alternate with Augmentin so that her body doesnt get used to and become immune to the Zannat.

Robyn that's crazily insane when I first read it I literally thought that a snake was under your tiles!!! So any idea what's caused this to happen? Didn't you recently do some renovations to your home?
And to be sick at the same time just sucks! Hope you went to the doctor and got yourself booked off!

Zoecat happy 19 weeks You're the closest due date to mine so will keep track of ur progress! Have you felt baby move yet?
Re your cat, they are very in tune to new changes coming, and probably lies close to your tummy to protect you. We have 2 cats and although it was a big adjustment for them they coped just fine with the arrival of Kaylee. We stopped letting them into our room a couple months before her birth because we didnt want them climbing into her cot while she was sleeping at night. She was in our room the first year. Only once we were certain they wouldn't do that, and that she could roll away if need be did we start letting them in again. Now we all sleep in 1 room together while we're at the inlaws and it works fine.

McKim welcome - sorry for my belated welcome! And yipee we finally have some boys again! Good luck choosing a name! We love the names Kai and Eli for boys but so far it looks like we're team pink. I am not convinced though as although there wasnt definite boy parts, its not like last time where I could see definite girl parts.
You'll eventually find a couple of names you like that will just stand out from the rest! Please share your ideas with us and we can give our opinions
Yikes the kicking gets hectic hey! It's really nice when you start feeling it from the outside too, really special to share with your partner.

Monica I hear you on that one! Friends have told me before that the transition from 0-1 is easier than from 1-2. But from 2-3 is rather easy as you're already used to the chaos! Hopefully your daughter will be quite nurturing and caring, as girls generally are but be prepared for her wanting to hold baby lots and lots. Let her hold her bottle for her (if bottle fed), and help with diaper changes and burping etc that she feels as involved as is possible. They will grow to be best buds!

I am suddenly growing! My old winter jerseys and tops just dont fit! I was given a lot of really stunning maternity tops, but they are quite thin and I am needing some thicker jerseys asap or I'm gonna freeze my but off! Will just have to wait for some money first or ask my mom to put onto her woolies account but I feel bad to do that because she's already helping out with our finances every month.

It looks like our car is sold! Just waiting for the settlement to take place, and going to sign the paperwork today. That's one less financial stress for us to worry about, now it's just the day to day living cost that we need to finance.

Yeah Zakumi is almost two now and is very naughty.

Sorry to hear about Kaylee.JB have u considered not giving
antibiotics to K.I decided not to give any antibiotics to Liwa
at all unless it was really serious.Luckily my paed is totally
against antis he feels they are over used.O also asked a pharmacist
and she told me in most cases they were given uneccessarily. Just
my thought thoughts. Felt my eldest daughter got antis too many times.

Yeah JB your job will come when the tym is right.

Ginah yipee and welcome!!! You kept quiet such a long time hun!
We been chatting long time my friend!
So your due date is practically the same as your little girl! I remember when u called her Zakumi before the world cup!

I dont have any time to chat right now but wanted to update you on the job saga!

So I never signed the contract! I told them as soon as they were available that I was pregnant (Around 11AM Monday morning), and they were very shocked and said they had to discuss with the agency what this means as they cannot afford to place someone again for 4 months when I've only been there for 4.
So an entire day went where I continued training and in the end at around 4:20PM I got called by the agent to say they are withdrawing the contract offer.
So ja its back to the drawing board for me!!!

But in hindsight I'm rather glad about it.
It's a very small company who have very specific ideas about how things are done. They want someone who can always be there 8-5 without the likelihood of taking off for sick kids or going off for doctors appointments during the day etc and they were already nervous about me taking off if K was sick.
Plus due to the size of the job I was already bored on the first day of training. They had practically trained me up on everything already, and we were meant to do that for 2 weeks!

So based on this experience and getting some advice from a labour consultant, it's probably going to be best for me to take a contract position for now, and try have that happen at a big company who will try and find me something permanent or continue with the contract in Jan or Feb once maternity leave is up.
I am really looking for something where the company understands my needs as a parent. If my child is sick I need to be able to take her to the doctor. Or if I need to go for scans etc then I need that flexibility once a month.
To have started off under such pressure of hoping children dont get sick was just not going to work and so in the end its for the better.

Belaine wow small world hey! Elaine & I were on the August 2010 group together with her Izzy born shortly after Kaylee!

Kaylee has been sick again since last Friday! GP put her on a mild antibiotic and stuff for her nebulizer. But it gradually got worse. Sunday and Monday were pretty bad. So took her to paed yesterday who gave stronger antibiotics and said to give only suppositories for the fever management. He took her temp and I thought it was still relatively mild but was already at 38.9deg. I dont want to know what it'd be at when it was at its worse, but I'm guessing 41+!!!
Yesterday afternoon she had an awful temperature which just wouldnt subside, even with the sups it took 2hours! I eventually bathed her in lukewarm water with rooibos tea in it and then she slept naked on my chest while her fever broke. Eventually at 5 it was better, and by the time daddy got home after 6pm she was her normal self!
Touch wood she didnt have any fevers last night which is usually when its bad and still nothing this morning. So hoping this means we're on the mend!
I dropped her off at daymom at just past 9am and will fetch her after lunch cos its around 2 that we normally start to struggle.
On the way to daymom we stopped to look at cows and ostriches. She absolutely loved it!

We had our 20wk scan yesterday
MacKenzie is now 376g and 25cm
All her measurements are great and no abnormalities
She was sucking her big toe and yawning during the scan - too cute!
