@Joybaby: I'm also hoping for a baby boy! I think DH would love a son. But hey, I hate stressing about something nobody has any control over. I made a comment the other day that since everyone wants the baby to be a boy, i feel so protective over the baby if it is a girl & i feel like everyone is rejecting her already. my DH got SOOOO mad! he said that there is NO such and that I am obsessing about this & he just doesn't get it. Everyone would like a pigeon-pair but that doesn't mean he won't absolutely 100000% love the baby if its a girl. I guess i'm just feeling the pressure becasue I am the one carrying the baby even tho I know I am not the one who even determines the gender....

O and where do you get those cute time lines at the bottom of your pages?

This is our first pregnancy! 11 weeks this week. Can't wait to find out the sex and if everything okay on 10 May 2012 at The Fetal Assessment Clinic in Claremont.

We are very happy for this little miracle. We started trying about Feb last year. After 2 months I said to Philip something just does not feel right.( amazing how the 6th sense works) So I went to the Carmen Barker and she said that I do not ovulate at all. She assumes that I have never ovulated. So we started Clomid. I was on the highest dose and still nothing. So then off course I developed a blood cyst on my left ovary. So stopped treatment and waited for it to subside. Started CLomid again at lower dose.

Feb this year I went to her for a follicle scan and there was once again nothing! So I said okay, here we go again on next round of Clomid. SO Carmen said no this is the end of the road. I have been with her for 8 months now and need to see a fertility specialist. This is all fine with me, at least there is a plan ahead.

Focused on the appointment with Dawie Slabbert at Panorama our miracle happened, out of the blue. God is amazing!

It was so true that once you take your mind off falling preggies you do! But then I also have to say in the same breath that you cant make that decision consciously!!

Anyway, today is a good day. I have not been nauseous today yet- touch wood! Hopefully this is a great sign that it will stop at 12 weeks.

We live in Cape Town, I am 28 Philip is 31. I am a pharmacist working for a NGO and seconded to government. HIV and TB is my field.

Are most of you expecting a boy or girl?

Belaine I'm sorry I'm so scarce!
It's a little difficult to come online at my inlaws place, as I cant hogg the internet and bandwidth We are still waiting for our ADSL to be transferred which will be easier cos the ADSL top ups are far cheaper if we go over our bandwidth.
I'm so glad your mom took the news well and you got so spoilt!!! To think that you're half way and you're already pretty much sorted for everything! Now you can relax the rest of the time!

Robyn that sounds like the party from hell! How do you know these people? Is it the kind of thing you'd expect from them? Hope you let them know your opinion of the venue! If it were me I would've left after 30 minutes seriously!

Congrats to everyone whose found out their gender! It's truely exciting
I am kind of hoping I'm not 'one of those' who have 2 of the same gender, I'd love for hubby to have a boy to teach and take under his wing!
But with the previous mommy group I was in, the majority of babies were girls, including mine. There were maybe 3 boys in a group of 15! So things definitely seem to happen in groups!

We are doing well. Still struggle with MS a lot, but now days its especially on waking and before bed time. I tried to get some tablets last week but they are fully sold out. At least its not as bad as before, and I'm into my 2nd trimester now so it should subside as the weeks go by.
I still dont feel pregnant hey! Although I do feel the occasional butterflies and if LO moves into a particular spot I can feel that s/he's there. It's a lot easier to recognize this the 2nd time around. Last time I had to wait till 18w to feel anything. My clothes still fit me except for some jeans which I cant zip up. I just look fat lol!
We had a very rough weekend with Kaylee. She developed a fever on Friday afternoon and it just got worse from there. We gave her empaped and ponstan but her fever always stayed higher than 38deg. When the meds wore off it was up to 40 which is very scary for us cos we never had that before. Sat during the day was better but she was still miserable. By Sat night it was back up and her heart was pounding in her chest. So we rushed off to the ER to have her seen to. By then her temp was under control again but she was in such a state they couldn't really do any vitals. So diagnosed with tonsilitis, strong course of antibiotics and R1000 later back home. Sunday was still mislik but temp wasnt as bad.
So took her to the daymom yesterday and get a call at 1:15 saying she's broken out in spots all over her body even her head! So off I go to fetch her, and get her to the doctor last night only to be told its a symptom of the strep throat which she probably has, and that her tonsils are inflamed but that its not tonsilitis. Another R300 later! Anyway, we had to eliminate measels etc cos of the other kids at the daymom and me being pregnant.
Last night no fever at all, just some nightmares. And she woke up without a fever at all so I havent even given her pain meds just antibiotics.
So ja all that drama for a throat infection. It was a very tiring weekend!
I must say the GP from yesterday was really so good with kaylee. She has a box of stickers she pulled out and she was putting them on kaylee's hands and her tummy and she was so distracted she didnt even flinch for the stethoscope etc.

We have managed to find the perfect tenants for our house too which is an answer to our prayers! They will pay the deposit today and as soon as the funds are cleared we will give them the keys for official occupation 1st May but since the house is empty they can start moving in this weekend.
Now to organise carpet cleaners etc before the long weekend...

Anyway I must get going. Have to do my weekly job search online which I didnt finish yesterday and then tackle some more unpacking.
I may also attempt going to gym later on, although at the moment I could do with a nap lol!

OMG Ladies - I had the absolute worst experience yesterday - at a 2nd birthday party
It was an absolute nightmare - everything that you shouldn't do for a kids party

1) They gave us directions with road names, but they needn't have bothered - they should have juts said, turn onto the dirt road, when you see some sheep, turn right, if you see some cows, you've gone too far, when you smell the place, you've arrived at Jeelani Palace - literally between sheep farms!!

2) They paid R1000 to rent this place for kids parties - I wouldn't go there again if you paid me R1000
- there is no door between the car park and the road, so kids can just run onto the dirt road (and be run over by sheep)
- there is no fence around the pool or the trampoline
- the grass was higher then my ankle (couldn't even see my shoes) and it covered big holes in the ground - someone could break their ankle
- the see-saw was broken - no handles, just metal poles sticking out the actual see-saw and the 'tyres' were so hard, it didn't bounce (whiplash anyone??)
- the slide was broken on the one side so children could easily cut their hands open if they held on while sliding (which most parents would want them to do!)
- the jumping castle (which they paid R150 for) was so full of flies, I would only let Dakota jump on the front, holding my hands (don’t touch it, you don't know where it's been!)

3) The party was 12h00-16h30
- we arrived at 12h45 (Dakota slept til 12h15) and there were about 5 people there (a nice small party we thought)
- the mother stayed inside the whole time, supposedly setting up the party inside, the father chatted to his friends, so it was up to the guests to watch the birthday girl (I didn't let Dakota out of my sight!)
- we had to wait til the grandmother brought the cake - she arrived just before 15h00! (not even an apology foer being late!)
- the party was at lunchtime, so we thought there would be food, as in lunch, this is what they catered:
- marshmallows, fizzers, lollipops, sweets, biscuits, cupcakes, mix-a-drink that even DH couldn't drink
- D was so hungry that she literally put anything she could in her mouth - I eventually gave her some popcorn (!!!) and cheese (the cheese was on toothpicks with polony! - yes kids running around with toothpicks!)
- the party 'hall' was a prefab wendy house with some kids tables put together and sweets strewn around the tables
- friends of the family were telling us how this was just one 'oasis' (her words!) hidden around the area (I would rather stay in the desert than this oasis!)
- we were also told how lovely the place was (what, compared to a squatter camp?!)
- there were not enough big plastic chairs for adults and too many kiddies plastic chairs (I tried to sit behind D at the kiddies table, but got stuck and had to climb over to get out (and I just wanted to get out!)
- I eventually took D and sat outside with a bag of popcorn

5) D was given a party pack and plate of eats to take home
- the party pack had the same sweets from the party (fizzer, lollipop, popcorn etc) as well as 3 candy-bracelets (I wouldn't have been able to eat the candy, it was so hard)
- the best part of the party pack (given to children) was the tiny little container with a few sweets (looked and smelled like the coloured sweet part of liquirice allsorts) - I tasted it and Mommy even ate a piece - it was PLAYDOUGH!!!
- please don’t try poison the children you invite to your kids birthday party?!

Ahh, yes, what a wonderful example of a kid's birthday party… FROM HELL!!
