On another note i've discovered swimming & lying on the beach while (heavily) pregnant is definitely the answer!

In the pool there is no gravity & all aches & pains seem to subside, also takes a lot of strain off the legs. HOWEVER, when you get out the pool gravity suddenly seems a lot worse for the first few seconds out of the water... Plan to spend more time in the pool when we get home (if the weather improves)...

Lying on the beach is definitely TOP of my list! Yesterday as the tide was at it's lowest and there were pools of water in the shallows by the rock pools (just above ankle deep). I dug a hole in the sand & lay on my tummy with my bump in the hole. This was an awesome feeling. The muscles under the belly button in the pelvic region got a really good stretch & my back also felt so good! But as you're sort of in water you're lying heavily on the bump. I seriously recommend it to ALL!

Anyways, having a lovely time here & my book is calling! Have a great week everyone!

Hi Ladies

As most of you know i'm on holiday at the moment, but as the weather is a bit mizzy i thought i'd hop online & say hi...

I'll answer some of the questions...

I washed some of the baby clothes for my LG, but as she came 5 weeks early some of the stuff didn't get washed & it was the furtherest thing from my mind. Not too stressed about doing it this time round. All the secondhand stuff i've gotten are definitely getting washed, especially newborn & 1-3 month stuff... Not too worried thereafter.

As for the baby bag, again i was admitted & gave birth less than 24 hours later without having packed a baby bag. I would say the most important thing is to make sure of the following:
Moms Stuff:
- comfy jarmies (especially the kind that are easy to breasfeed in).
- they say maternity pads, but have you seen those things? HORRENDOUS!!! I used the ones the hospital gave me & then got my mom to buy me the heavy duty pads (the normal ones you use for your period), not really sure why you need special ones?
- i also bought el cheapo panties from pep so that i wouldn't be bothered about throwing them away if they got too messed up from the bleeding.. turns out i still wear them 3 years later to sleep in as they are so comfy, only threw away one or two...
- your normal toiletries
- clothes to go home in
- breast pads

They say you should have snacks & all sorts of other things... Honestly it would probably be great to have those things & i plan to pack them this time round (as soon as i'm back from holiday), but the truth is you can get buy without it & unless your hospital is in the middle of nowhere (doubtful) your hubby can always pop out to get whatver you need.

Baby's Stuff:
Again, i hadn't packed a bag for my LG & quite fankly didn't have a lot of the stuff ready. Hubby ran around getting a few items while i was waiting for the induction to work. Again, i plan to pack this time around but i would say you need the following as most important:
- nappies (size 1), unless you're having a 4 kg or bigger baby
- wet wipes
- surgical spirits (although most hospital bags provide this)
- powder
- baby wash (I like the soft pink elizabeth anne's stuff)
- cotton wool balls
- receiving blankets
- dummy
- clothes for baby (every day, and to go home in)
- formula & bottle if you're not wanting to BF

If anyone would like me to send me the list i've compiled for myself just shout, will be happy to do so...

If you google it there are quite a few sites out there advising what you should have & they're all pretty much the same...

Hey Ladies

I had a hectic 2 days behind me but have been reading your posts on my phone :)
Glad everyone is still doing good, besides the aches and pains...

Thanks for the compliments, at this stage you feel so uncomfortable that you don't feel that pretty at all :(

Trayco
: the scan pics are awesome, there's so much detail. Bet you can't wait to meet her now :woohoo:
Welcome back baby_love ;)

Anthea
: I also wish that I could have the baby sooner than later...I can remember I was overdue by almost 2 weeks with my son...My hubby says he thinks the baby is coming before christmas...that would be lovely!!

AFM:
I have soooo much to do still...I am very "delayed" this time around. I still need to wash the baby stuff, and also get a few more things.
I can't even pack a bag yet cos I don't have one yet lol.... (I have not seen/found one that I liked so far)...I have no names in mind  :headbang: and my hubby is not helping either

Yesterday on my way home as I got into the bus, I moved down the aisle to find a seat, this lady smiled at me ad I politely smiled back. Then she looks at me and says: "You look nice, pregnancy really suits you". I just laughed but in my mind I was like: " seriously? are you kidding me? Do you even know what I went through so far??" I was so surprised at her "statement" but I guess I should be grateful that people don't call me names, lol.

Also yesterday, I was sneezing from the morning till even now...I have never suffered from hayfever and neither do I have any allergies...Not sure why this is happening but this morning it seems that Im getting a cold  Not cool at all!! I really thought it would be smooth sailing for me this last few weeks :(

Its super hot in Cape Town today and I feel that I can rip my clothes off right here  Hoping you ladies have a fab day!!

Hi there ladies

Its true, if you stick to what the hospital list says you end up with a whole suitcase just for yourself!!! I had my LG in winter so you can only imagine packing in those bulky PJ's and gowns!

Seriously though, rather too much than too little... Rather be prepared and pack everything on the list... Also if you are going to a Netcare hospital you can purchase those mommy bags that have most of your and baby's tolietries in... then you dont have to pack what is on that list...

For those having C-sections i have a friend who highly recommends water-less hand cleanses and a water-less / dry foam shampoo... she says you cant wash hair after the op and by the third day you dying for a shampoo so those really came in handy for her...

@Snoekie - you could pack most of baby's things in a nappy bag that you would ordinarily use - like the Dischem one we got... Finally got mine on the weekend... Not a very practical colour, i can see that white getting dirty so quick...

Will post more as i think of them...

Hi Ladies,
I also started packing baby's bag. I will be packing everything in one suitcase as I don't have two small bags.
What are your lists looking like for the hospital bag. Especially you ladies that have already gone through this. The hospital gives you a list of what to bring, but what in your oppinions is truly important? I am feeling a bit lost as I am currently packing WAY too much stuff. This is a common problem with me, I always overcompensate. DH always says it looks like I am going away for months.
