I have to admit I am so jealous of you having a Dischem in SA here we only have Medicine World but there is a Dischem opening where I live but only in September next year
I really want a musical rocker but they are very expensive and I need two I decided if there is money left in the budget after all the important stuff has been bought I will get that but I will have to wait and see.
I am not stocking up on too many nappies as it is very difficult to judge how long your baby will stay in a size. Also I have spoken to a lot of my friends about which brand is better and it seems that between pampers and huggies it really is personal preference as some friends swear by one brand and another by the other..... Its all a bit confusing so I have bought two packs of new born pampers and two of new born huggies and I will wait with the rest.

Some one mentioned that they will have their baby shower in Nov!!! That is awesome then you have loads of time to shop for the last stuff needed. Mine is the first week in December as we want to wait for my sister from the UK to be here.

I am literally counting the sleeps till my next scan ( 5 sleeps ) this is longest we have gone with out a scan so I am a bit paranoid but the babaies are kicking up a storm every day and I trust that they are doing great!!

Ladies, I fully agree with you - in my case, I am getting very panicky about it all. I don't have a great support structure, I don't have a mom and granny, my in-laws live very far away (provinces away) and my sister (also childless) lives in the US. None of my close friends have children. I have baby-sat probably twice in my life and I am one of those nervous babysitters. I therefore have absolutely no idea, except for what I read on the internet about what to expect. I have bought all the books but I feel like I can at least have all of her physical needs met when she is born. I just don't know what those needs are!! That is why I have the list (internet generated) of things to buy beforehand. If I can control that, maybe everyone is right and the rest will come naturally. I just feel very inadequate at the moment.

I have a wonderful husband who is super supportive, but he is in the same boat as I am - experience wise. We are both 36 so we have waited a long time for each other and for this awesome experience - hoping that age grants wisdom... fat chance of that.

Anyhow, enough of my anxiety-fueled pity party. Millions of women have done it before me, right? Somehow mothering must come naturally.

Yumna, I also plan to have a normal birth with an epidural but my placenta is still too low (previa) for that at this stage. Hoping that it will move before 32 weeks so that I don't have to have a C-section. I also take Preg Omega Plus but haven't yet had the side-effects. Maybe you can find out from your Gynea if you can't take separate supplements?

im quite interested in the fisher price motion soother but in blue - see attached pic. its really cheap too. saw the same at baby city for about R 900 so this is a huge saving. battling to decide if i want this one or the bright starts intenguity one for like R 604. this one looks more like it wont tip over compared to the bright starts one.

Wow, so much chatting going on here again. loving it! I checked my pump I got form my sister and it is indeed the medela electric mini. It does make quite a noise as I tested it out. Like a loud vibrate. But it does seem like medela is the clear winner around here!

Hopeful, you take the words out of my mouth (sheesh that sounds like a very direct afrikaans translation) Its not the physical stuff that gets me panicky, like decorating the room or buying clothes etc.. It's what comes after that and the massive change it will bring to our lives. I worry about ALSO how it will affect the relationship between my husband and I. Also, we were at Aevitas for treatment as I also struggled for quite a while to fall pregnant and had 2 miscarriages, so I waited a long time for this baby, I know I'm ready. Which makes these feelings I'm having so weird to me. But like my hubby says, If I weren't thinking of how things will change it might be weird too. I must however admit, feel MUCH better today. I think I just needed to vent and let the feelings out a bit.

As a last random thought, Dischem has a special on pampers nappies. All jumbo packs from size 1 -5 all R149. I havent started buying nappies, but I saw it in the window today and thought "mmm, maybe I should start stocking up!"

As for breastpumps, i used the Madela one with my daughter, it was excellent.

I used to take Preg Omega Plus, but about 2 weeks ago started feeling extreamly tired after taking my vitamins, so i have stopped taking it and feeling abit better. Has anyone had a similar experience? What do you ladies suggest? should i maybe take it every second day? Dont want to deprive my baby from essential vitamins.
My next gyne appointment is only on the 5th November.

Had so much fun reading all the posts its been a while since we had that much to say

With regards to the pump - most medical aids pay for it from the savings which I do not have as I only have Hospital plan with maternity benefits. I think it is important to wait and see if you are even able to breastfeed before buying a pump. Some mothers have no milk or low quality milk or some babies refuse to take the breast. I also decided against the Tommee Tippee pump after I read many bad reviews. I was considering the Madela mini electric but might even go with a Madela manual pump at the end of the day. Unfortunately you can search reviews on every single baby product and will always find some negative reviews on each of them. I guess it all varies from mommy to mommy and baby to baby as every situation is different.

I actually noticed a few days ago that a tiny amount of clear almost watery fluid comes out of my nipples when I press on them, must be their way of getting ready for breastfeeding

I am also going for the Angelcare monitor but looking around for a secondhand one in good condition.

I have not yet had the panick attacks but sure it will kick in at some stage.

My babyshower will be on 14 dec. I had to choose a date so that I could take off from work. Then I will also have the entire december holidays to buy the things I still need.

I also booked my maternity shoot and newborn shoot today

I have also been considering all natural birth but have changed my mind. Will definitely be having normal birth with epidural if all goes to plan.

Cant believe how time is flying by feels like yesterday that we all shared our good news!

I have the Medela Mini - I used it for a full year, but have to admit, I used all the 'spare' valves its comes with (the tear after a while) and by the end it did seem to sound a bit 'tired'
I thought that if I'm going to use it again, I will just get it checked out / serviced, and get new spare valves. Maybe I should also get the manual 'attachement', then I can use electric at home and manual at work

My savings is also depleted and dont want to use up next year's so early, so dont think I can treat myself to a brand new one just yet...
