Good afternoon ladies

I hope you are all doing well
Thank you all for your support and input. Lets see what the scan says tomorrow, I just have to get the right time to tell my parents. I do not really care what my brothers or sister will say. But with the shock off selling the house and so on, my parents might not take it well.

So 1 More sleep until my 1st scan. Can not wait!!!!

House hunting is going great, we have seen a few places that are in our price range, so we are busy to see what we qualify for in regards to the home loan.

I did speak to the big white telephone this morning again, but is was hungry and I think that was the biggest culprit!!!!
Otherwise I am not tired or anything.

Have a great weekend Will come and update after my scan.

Have a great day.

Jay I know exactly how you feel. seems like the tiredness is stepping in for me now too.

It seems to help a lot if I go out during my lunch break, we work close to a small shopping mall, so that wakens me up to quickly pop in there when I cant seem to keep my eyes open in front of my pc.

Goggatjies, I may be wrong, but I think you should just tell the family. Its still your little baby to look after and they should accept that. (sorry I m thinking in Afrikaans and the words stumble today)

MakatK thank you for the article. Its amazing and I definitely want to do the yoga.

Hi to all the rest. May you have a lovely evening. :)

hallo there friends

Sterretjie, so nice to hear from you. i know the feeling about the tiredness.
hopefully the 2 weeks will past quickly and i hope you will be lucky to see the gender.

Makat, thanks for the article. i read a few very interesting things.

hallo Jay, Mommyme, Wina, Santie (hope i did not forget someone)

Goggatjies. so sorry that you are in suck a sticky situation.
i can't imagine what you are going through.
i don't have good advise, but i must say, in such a situation there will never be a good time to tell them. so the sooner you tell the better for you. they might not react the way you want them to, but at least it will be easier for you not to carry that secret around. it takes a lot of energy and worries keeping a secret.
if you want to let baba sleep in your room you can get a 2 bedroom place and it will be good enough at least for the next year. still 6 months to go till baba is here and by that time thing will look alot better and you can find a bigger place. and that will give you enough time to search for a place you can afford without the stress of having to rush it.

AFM. having a good day here. still tired, but not as intense. it feels wonderful to be more awake in the mornings

Hi

I hope all of you are doing well
most of us are past the 12 week mark?? Sterretjie you are the last to reach 12 weeks (I think) - Not long now

Makatk, thank you for the nice article that you posted

So I am a bit down at the moment
So we have been living with my parents for a while now, to save money. But my parents decided to sell the house now after they have lived in it for 53 years. This has been my childhood house for nearly 33 years.
So we are looking for a house/flat/apartment/cluster now, and it is not easy finding something we can afford.
Still have not told the family about this pregnancy, so now they are all going on, saying that a 2 bedroom will be big enough and so on, but in the back of my head I am thinking, if only you knew.
I still do not know when to tell my family. The other dilema we are having is my cousin anounced she is pregnant, due in March, so it will feel so strange to tell them we are also pregnant. I just do not know what to do - Please help!!

lost 400grams this week, after i've put up weight last week. But still cycling and loving getting up early and feel the cold air in my face in the moring at 6 am

Have a great day

@MommyMe, i just want to atest to what you read IT WORKS!!! when i was preggies with my son( 3yr old now), as soon as we knew the sex we gave him a name and started using it, everytime anyone (family of course) tapped my tummy and called his name he'd respond. I use to play one particular song and open volume full blast every morning we drove to work and he'll kick :) , the first day he arrived home we played that song guess what he opened his eyes and kicked :woohoo: :woohoo: . When he was 2 hrs old hubby went to take photos of him in the incubator room( not sure if its the right term) and TK was fast asleep but the minute he called out his name he woke up and opened his eyes, all the nurses where shocked on how he responded to his name. In summary it works.

With this one we also started talking and singing, like saying gd morning, gd night etc.

Do it mamas IT WORKS!!!

I also found this useful( A lil long but worth reading)

The early weeks of pregnancy can be tiring and stressful. But as your pregnancy progresses, and your bump grows, you'll start to feel much more like a mum-to-be.

To help prepare for your new life, spend a little time bonding with your unborn baby when you can. Pregnancy is just the beginning of a life-long love affair with your child.

1. Massage your bump

A soothing way to bond with your baby is to gently massage oil into your belly. This is safe to do after the first three months of pregnancy. Many women use oils and creams in an effort to prevent stretchmarks. There's no evidence that moisturisers work to prevent stretchmarks, but smoothing on cream or oil can certainly be a relaxing ritual for you and your baby.

An aromatherapy massage is a great way to pamper yourself and spend time thinking of (and may be talking to) your baby. Try adding one or two drops of lavender, mandarin or rose oil (all of which are safe to use after the first trimester) to a carrier oil.

Ask your partner if he would like to give you a massage. It may help him to share in your pregnancy more readily (Semper, 2011).

2. Go swimming

A great way to take the weight off your feet and get some idea of what life is like for your baby is to go swimming. Not only is swimming a safe way to exercise (Artal and O’Toole 2003, Lynch et al 2003) but it gives you a chance to relate to your baby, who's floating in fluid too.

No matter how big your bump, the gentle support of the water will give you some welcome relief in the later stages of your pregnancy. You could also look out for aquanatal classes which are an ideal opportunity to tone up and make new friends.

3. Sing and talk to your baby

Your baby's hearing is developing all the time. From about 23 weeks he can enjoy the daily soundtrack of your heartbeat and the growling of your hungry tummy. He'll also start to hear sounds from outside the protective cushion of the amniotic fluid and your uterus (womb) wall.

Your baby's familiarity with your voice helps him quickly form an attachment to you once he's born (Hepper 1996). One theory suggests that your baby’s hearing is well-developed in the uterus to help him start to bond with you before he's born (Hepper 1996). After birth, your newborn may also pay more attention to your voice than any other (DeCasper et al 1980).

Talking and singing to your baby can be truly rewarding once you know he can hear you. You may feel a bit self-conscious at first but you’ll soon get used to it and enjoy having chats with your bump.

4. Have a bath

Having a warm bath is one of the few opportunities you have to switch off totally for a while. It's also a chance to devote some attention to your baby. Although you may want to have a long, calming bath, make sure the water's not too hot when you get in.

Simply lie still, breathe deeply, completely relax and picture your baby. Try taking a few minutes to visualise yourself holding your new baby. Imagine what he might look like and what you might say to him.

If you're well into your second trimester, your baby may make his presence felt with a few kicks when you stop moving. During the day you may be too busy to take notice of your baby's movements. Setting aside some time in the evening, while lying in the bath, is a good time to focus on your baby's squirming and kicking.

5. Pregnancy yoga

Antenatal yoga classes are great way to relax, become aware of the amazing work your body is doing and focus on your growing baby.

If you haven't done yoga before it's fine to start while you're pregnant. Yoga postures for beginners are usually quite simple. The best time to start yoga is in the second trimester, after 14 weeks. The national governing body for yoga, the British Wheel of Yoga, advises you not to try postures in the first trimester.

Along with gentle stretching you will learn breathing techniques that can help during the stages of labour. Antenatal yoga can help relax your mind and body and help you to feel at one with your baby.

Watch our yoga videos for ideas about postures that may suit you.

6. Practise hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing classes use hypnotherapy techniques to help you focus on your baby and your body in preparation for labour and birth. Hypnobirthing can teach you ways to cope with pain during labour. You'll have to pay for hypnobirthing classes, but you may find the deep relaxation techniques you learn in the classes help you connect with your baby.

Otherwise, a trained hypnotherapist will teach you how to use breathing and concentration techniques to tune out distractions.

7. Keep a scan picture of your baby close by

The first scan of your baby, which is usually your dating scan, can help you to visualise the little person developing in there. At your anamoly scan you may be able to find out if you're having a boy or a girl.

Having a picture of your baby's scan on your phone or on your fridge door is a constant reminder that your bump is home to a little person.

You could also arrange a private 3D scan later in pregnancy. A 3D scan can give you a clear view of your baby's features. You may even be able to tell whose nose he's inherited.

The best time to have a 3D scan is between 26 weeks and 30 weeks of pregnancy. Private scans can be expensive but seeing what your baby looks like may make prospective parenthood seem more real for you and your partner.

8. Help daddy bond too

Most mums-to-be experience symptoms early on in their pregnancies. This daily physical reminder of pregnancy helps you bond with your unborn baby from the start. It's not so straightforward for dads but as pregnancy progresses you can help your partner bond with your baby.

Help the dad-to-be to feel your baby move. Let him know that from 23 weeks your baby can hear sounds outside the uterus. Encourage him to talk and read to your bump. This will help your baby become familiar with his daddy's voice.

Encourage your partner to attend antenatal classes with you so he knows what to expect during labour and birth.

Having a baby takes teamwork and there's no reason you both can't start early. If your partner helps around the house, runs you a bath or fetches you snacks, you’ll both feel you’re in this pregnancy together!

9. Go for a walk

Try taking some "you and bump" time out by going for a walk. Walking is an ideal activity to squeeze into your lunch hour if you are working. Going for a stroll gives you space to think about your baby. You can even have a discreet chat with your bump as you go.

If you were fairly inactive before you became pregnant, start with a stroll at a pace that's comfortable for you. Once you've got into the habit of walking regularly, you can build up to faster walks lasting between 20 minutes and 30 minutes. You could alternate a few minutes of brisk walking with a few minutes at a slower pace.

10. Respond to your baby's kicks

You may start to feel your baby's movements from about 18 weeks to 20 weeks if this is your first baby (Gillieson et al 1984). Feeling your baby move is very reassuring after weeks of having no idea what he is getting up to in there!

Responding to your baby's kicks is about as close as you will get to two-way communication before he is born. And you can do it at any time, wherever you are. Rub your bump when your baby moves and build up an exchange of kicks and rubs. There is nothing quite as exciting as feeling your baby respond to your touch for the very first time.
