Mommies - April 2014

Hello all

So my scan on Tuesday went really well. My baby is doing really good and is growing beautifully. Dr tried to see what the sex is, but this little one didn't want to open the legs. And when the dr tried to move him around he got really upset and looked like he tried to punch back, was really funny...

My new dr is great. He looked at everything, and said my bleeding is due to my placenta lying low. But the good news is that it is moving upwards. I started bleeding again after tuesday, because of all the stress. My lg was sick and I had to carry her around everywhere, when we got home I was so tired I went straight to bed.

Dr also had me do the blood tests on tuesday, although the screening for downs showed that baby is 100% free from any defects. I was amazing to see my baby so clear on the scan. The dr measured everything from the neck to the nose to the bladder.

My next appointment is on 12 November. Can't wait!!! But I said to my DH that we should leave the night before and sleep over at my sisters house, I can not do all the driving in one day again.

Wina - don't stress too much about your baby. I know it is easier said than done but if you don't have a problematic pregnancy then sit back and enjoy the experience - even the MS. Is this your first pregnancy? I think we all do have a bit of "what if?" in the back of our minds but you also don't want to worry so much.

StellaK - hope you are feeling better? A cot and pram is important. With my daughter we bought a Graco Mirage Plus Travel System with a pickaloo (not sure about the spelling?). We only bought a car seat when she turned 10 months (Bambino Elite). We used a camping cot (Graco Contour Electra) which will be used again second time around.

Bottles is another tricky thing. First time around we used Dr Brown's which I would never buy again. Great when she was small but the bottles are leaking terribly and when I wanted to change the bottles (6 months) she refused any other bottle as she was used to them. This time around I am looking at either Avent; Tommy Tippee or Nuby.

Then there's nappies - Huggies; Pampers or Cuddlers. And wet wipes.

The best investment we made was the Angle Care Monitor. We moved our daughter to her own room when she was 5 weeks old and I only agreed to it because of the Angle Care. We used it with her until about 8 months. You are quite paranoid when they are so small - I got up many nights to feel if she was still breathing (before she moved out).

My biggest down fall was all the clothes I bought. You will buy because of the cuteness and then later realise that she cannot wear the clothes due to the weather etc. I have clothes for her that still has the tags on. This time around I will buy more sensible.

so, people have been asking all kinds of questions, and I have really not thought about anything. so i want to know, seeing that most of you are not first time mommies, what items do you thing is necessary or things that you really used a lot.
at this stage i only have 3 things on my list to buy and that is cot, pram, car seat.

o, and i should add some bottles

I am doing great, bit more tired (Just did not want to get up at 05:30 to go and cycle)

Wina, everybody is different, and we all worry that baby is doing well, and that they are growing, but I am sure when you know what you are having, you will feel better, the first few feeks are the longest, but when baby starts to kick, then it is a different feeling. Then you know you are pregnant.

Stella I hope that you feel better soon and that the hunger will past. I try to go to bed as early as I can, so that I can get enough rest. Otherwise I am tired as well.

@Sterretjie wow you lucky to have had some swimming weather. Seems in Cape Town it just doesn't want to come. Not that I'm complaining I don't like summer all that much and now I'm still pregnant. OMW

Hope I didn't leave anyone with recent news out.

AFM i've been miserable this week, I'm 14 weeks and MS is hectic. I've had close relations with the loo for two whole days. I'm not as tired anymore but I don't have lus for anything after a session of vomiting. Not cool.



My next scan is 28 Oct 2013, I'm not too worried about seeing the sex just yet. Is that weird? I have lots of paranoia about baby though. Is the little tot growing in my tummy, is everything ok in there. Its terrible I feel that I can't even enjoy my pregnancy

AFM, had a bad day yesterday, was so hungry and tired it wasn't even funny.
still have headaches today. but luckily not so extremely hungry.

Am getting jelous here, i wish to find out the sex when i go again, cant wait am so excited. Congrats mommy me on your twinnies
