Hi everyone and welcome and congrats to all the new people who have joined
I haven't posted in a while but I've been catching up on the thread!
Gain-a-baby, try to find some psyllium husk to help with the constipation. I used it after my last birth (instead of the laxative the hospital wanted to give me) but you have to make sure to drink lots of water when you take it. You can find it at Dischem or any health store (
dischemonline.co.za/product-view/7779/he..._free/path/47_53_195) This is the actual husk although I found a capsule/tablet form when I took it.
Mum2Be, congrats on your twins. Do you have a baby already? I've always loved the idea of twins but after having my baby I realised that 2 babies at once would be such a handful! I'm sure you'll be fine though, and it will be great having them grow up together because they'll keep each other company (at the moment I'm my toddler's playmate!).
I'm 14 weeks this week, still some nausea and throwing up but I think it's getting better. I'm just particularly tired at the moment because my toddler is cutting his back molars so neither of us are sleeping much and I think the tiredness tends to make the morning sickness worse!
Had an appointment with my midwife this week and got to hear baby's heartbeat

This appointment really highlighted to me the difference between midwives and gynaes. My gynae is sweet but generally quick and very medical about everything. My midwife does all the medical stuff but also looks at me and baby so holistically. She spent over 2 hours asking me questions about my last birth, my emotional state during my last birth and during this pregnancy, my mothers's and grandmother's births; talking about nutrition, exercise, conscious parenting during pregnancy and beyond; gave me homework to visualise this birth and all the possible variations, to think of myself parenting 2 children, to think of my relationship with my husband during this pregnancy and once the next baby comes, checked my stomach muscles to see if I had a diastasis (separation of the muscles)... It goes so much beyond just medical care and I think it's so important because the one thing my last birth taught me was that childbirth is so much more than just a physical act, it really is a mental and emotional journey that you actually need to think about and prepare for if you want it to be positive (and so many people unfortunately have horribly negative birth experiences!).
