As a first time mommy to be, I am probably confusing myself with an information overload on all sorts of topic. Baby is due in April and I need to start packing that hospital bag... I got the list from my hospital (and a few other lists off the web), BUT I was just wondering if any of you have pertinent advise on "what's in the bag"? A lot of what I read seems to be overreaction (though as a first timer I can't really tell ) For instance: front buttoning pajamas... Do you know that I can't find any front buttoning pajamas? Im now considering men's PJ's! Your advise would really be appreciated...

Sho ladies...feeling a bit better. Still stressed but better. Sorry you are also all feeling the emotional rollercoaster. My poor hubby was so worried he didn't know what to do or say this weekend..I was just in tears about the unscheduled load shedding, the fact that his mom started smoking again, the mall not having something I was looking for...the weather..the house...anything and everything. was so bad.

Newbiemom...what is the tissue salt called?
I have a few pocket cloth nappies..eco nappy solutions and snugglybums (ALVA rebranded). I want to get a whole lot more like earthbabies..but it is costing quite a bit for now. We decided we will use what we have got and see how it goes and then buy more every month until we feel we have enough.

I am only due end of April...but at the end of this month we are going to buy everything we need for hospital bags and get that sorted out. so excited. We decided to sell our spare bed and TV unit so that we can make space for baby stuff I bought a cute teddy bears wall art vinyl sticker for decorating the wall since we can't paint or stick nails in the wall. Starting to feel like we are making plans finally.

Have you ladies had baby showers yet?

Hope you are all feeling a bit better. I am trying to just ignore work stress for now and make lists of things I still want to get done before baby arrives. Work can take a back seat for now..me being stress free and my baby's health is more important than anything right now.

Nelsn, I have been playing all sorts of games (dominos, reading books...) one can play with my LG in bed or on the couch while lying - I totally get it! So grateful that she is older already, because I can just imagine a 2 year old or 3 year old having a meltdown because mommy is tired!

I am also having moments of stress around the birth, but I doubt that it is abnormal (not that it makes it easier). I think every mom wonders if she will be able to pull it off. I just keep reminding myself that I really don't want another c-section and long recovery afterwards (not to talk about not being able to drive for weeks....). I am sure we will muscle through it all. Praying for you that you may find calmness and strength to believe in yourself (will say that prayer for myself too!). Is there absolutely no-one who will be able to help out with your son during labour?

Nels, have you seen the Alva nappies from China (not a fan from imported items from China but it seems very well priced)? Hasie said that she ordered from them directly, no problems. I am thinking of getting about 6 Alva nappies to try them. They are going for around R85 each. Plus around R30 extra for a bamboo charcoal insert. Some people really rave about the Alva nappies and others don't seem to like it. Guess there is only one way to find out - get a few to try!

Starryeyed - Glad to hear you are still managing and that baby is doing well. How many weeks are you now? I think if one can just get past the 30 weeks mark one can relax a bit more, or that is what I have heard. But I can imagine one is still very concerned about baby's wellbeing if born pre-maturely.

It doesn't seems as if I have any symptoms of a bladder infection (apart from being tired - although don't know if this is from just being pregnant). But I am drinking lots of water and taking probiotics, lemon juice in water and a bit of Citrus soda. Will keep an eye for extra symptoms - especially surges!!

Ahh....so sorry about the 4D scan!! But what a funny story!!

So glad your family will be helping you to set everything up. Enjoy the painting....would love to see! I have a blank canvas standing around, but doubt I will be getting to that.

Newbiemom... James blunt is awesome! I am sure it was nice to get out. I feel you on the emotional side. I burst into tears just talking about smallest thing. I was planning on doing cloth at home and disposable when out (just for convenience)... My stash is non existent... My sister wanted to buy me some as a baby present but not sure what is happening with that at the moment.

Faffymum... Hang in there! Hopefully it all wears off! I have also been feeling blue... Hubby is keeping an eye on me... My doc said it could be hormones but most likely it's the stress from the last few weeks.

Nels_n... I hope you are managing with the heat... I remember that heat from when I worked up there... I struggled and I was not pregnant so I can imagine it is torture. You are sooo organised... We haven't even got everything we need yet and I haven't even thought of my hospital bag.

Gloei... I Hope your bladder infection clears up quickly. Please do not wait too long to get checked by a doc if it does not get better... Bladder infections can cause contractions. No one wants that just yet

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers. We are still in one piece. My little monster is kicking like mad and some of them are started to get painful. It is reassuring to feel him kick though. I have to stay on the meds for a while longer... The doc is keeping a close eye on me. I am bored of the rest but trying to stay positive... My hubby got me some paint (non toxic) and canvas... I am going to paint some pictures for the baby room when I feel up to it. That should keep me busy

We tried to go for a 4d scan the other day and he was not cooperating... His head is so low and that combined with him hiding his face under his hands, arms and even a foot... Did not make for good photos. On the bright side he did flash us so I am now very convinced he is a boy haha! To make it worse... While we were looking at his little willy... He started weeing... So we now have a video of that. My aunt and uncle were with us and they all could not stop laughing... He is never going to live this down haha. The lady rescheduled us for 2 weeks time... Hopefully he will cooperate!!

My mom and sister in law are coming to visit at the end of the month and they have said they are going to spend the weekend getting me organised... Hope our baby room is finished by then so we can get everything washed and packed into the cupboard. Our house looks like a bomb has hit it! It is chaos with all our furniture and junk stashed in the one room so we can fix up the other two. My hubby has managed to do alot himself and now all that is left is waiting for the company we have hired to do the floors... They are messing us around a bit... A touch annoying!

My hospital bagged is almost fully packed but all the necassary items are packed. I am very excited about meeting my baby, but I must be honest the reallity of birth is closing in, especially natural. The fear is creaping in as adamant as I am on wanting natural.
Im hoping I give birth during school hours so I dont have to worry about my son and childcare. I dont have family that is able to babysit.

for the first time in A LONG time I have energy. Yesterday was horrible, I slept most of the day, was super exhausted and just couldnt cope and my son had to play alone ;(.
Gloie@ I have realised that even if it 30 degrees the heat while pregnant is not comfortable. So dont worry, you have a right to complain.
Cloth, is a bit of a challenge. I bought Glodinas because the money for newborn aio etc was too much for me to spend for a very short while. At the clinic they advised to get normal Glodinas and use them, and if you having a summer baby to not fully cover the baby with the nappy to let their bums breath and to avoid any rash, therefor you dont need waterproofs. Since a newborn cant turn or do much just tugging the nappy under the baby will do in the first few weeks.
