Hi Nelsn,

Thank you for the info. I agree on the rest. But as you know when caring for a baby (and another child) this is simply not possible. On weekends and evenings hubby helps as much as he can and holds baby so that I don't have to carry extra weight around. I can feel the more I lie down the better it gets, but it is simply not possible to do at this stage. My baby wants to be held and and starts to cry the moment I put her down. She happily sleeps in the babysense sling or carrier but if I put her down she is wide awake. Carrying around baby makes the prolapse much worse but I have no other option at this stage.
I wish I could find domestic help to do the dishes and laundry...but haven't been able to find someone yet.
I am seeing the Physio tomorrow and hopefully she can also give some advise as the Gynae didn't provide me with any information and was in such a hurry to get me out of his office. The inversion yoga sounds interesting...The prolapse happened the day I decided to wear the belly band (strange). I wore it for half and hour and it wasn't comfy so I removed it and later that day the prolapse happened. Don't know if it was just a coincidence? Anyway, thank you for the info - much appreciated!! xx

Hi all,

So nice to have some news from everyone!!

Nelsn - Hope the whole family is healthy again and free of the nasty winter bugs! Thank you for the prayers, I really need it at this stage.

RonelleB - I somehow skipped the part of you mentioning PND. I am so sorry to hear. I am so glad you got medication and help. I will never forget how overwhelmed I was with my first child and how much I cried. For me it did get better as time passed, especially when baby started to sleep more at night. I will be thinking of you. Your mom is right, this too shall pass and things will become a lot easier. I waited quite a long time to start trying for baby no. 2 because I really had a tough time with baby no. 1 and was scared I wouldn't cope.

Newbiemom - Thank you, I really need the prayers right now!! All the articles on the internet calls it the "silent epidemic", nobody talks about it!
Well, I am going to break the silence. This is freaking hectic and if I had only known this was possible (like any other complications like an episiotomy) I would have been able to cope better.
I am terribly sorry to hear about the colic!!! I hope you have some support to help out if baby cries for hours?!! Sho, I hope you can find some relief or perhaps a cause, although I know that colic only sometimes improves with time.
The urinary incontinence sucks, I am surprised that I am not leaking at this stage with my prolapse. I have more constant pressure on my bladder almost like when you have a bladder infection. I hope it will improve for you. I am thinking of buying this little gadget which is what the physios use to help with bladder incontence, Pelvic organ prolapse and strengthening the pelvic floor muscles:

shopping.all4women.co.za/Calliger--iTone...k-ap-B00H5GDO4Q.html

It is quite pricey, but at this stage I am pretty desperate for relief as I am not coping well with the pelvic organ prolapse and the possibility that this will be with me for the rest of my life.

Faffymum - Hope you are doing okay with the breast feeding and that things are settling down for you.

StarryEyed, hope you and baby are healthy too!!

It seems as if we all have our challenges with our new roles as moms - still thinking of everyone regularly.

Hi dear ladies. Sorry ive been so quiet. Been away for a bit with family and we have also all been sick but all better now.

Gloei... ive never heard of that...? Shame my friend, i am definitely praying with you for a miracle!

Ronelle, good to hear baba is doing well.

Nels, i agree, this cold weather is toooo much.
Its so wet here in cape town and freeezing.

We are doing well. Baba has suddenly developed some colic, and its heartbreaking when they cry so much. But we are taking it one bit at a time. testing all kinds of colic remedies. Going for her 6 week check up next week only at 8 weeks..... apparently pediatricians are REALLY full ;)

I havent gone for a checkup yet, but suspecting some bladder issues... i seem to be leaking a bit of urine (sorry tmi), as i always wear a panty liner and its always wet and has a slight urine smell... uuurrrgghhh. Oh well. Here is to sneezing, coughing, laughing etc. Lets do this .

Miss you girls xxx

Morning ladies

Gloie@ so sorry to hear about your complication. I too had never heard of it. I really pray there is a way to heal it even though the Dr says its lifetime issue. Im glad to hear your beautiful baby girl is gaining weight even with thrush.
Ronelle@ i am glad to hear your bundle is doing well, I took K to a chiro at 2 weeks and it helped him with his colic.
How are the rest of the ladies doing?
I am getting better, Amara is better. But this cold and wind is horrible. I am trying to keep healthy slowly but surely. K is eating alot and loves playing and I have had a few heart warming smiles. Have a superb weekend ladies.

Hi Ladies!

I miss so much chatting with all of you!!

Nelsn - I hope everyone is healthy by now? It really is tough to care for sick family and a baby at the same time - I never thought things could get so rough until I had a very sick husband with high fever and my 6 year old to care for and still take care of baby (and run the entire household with no help). Are you still battling with headaches? I agree, the 3 hourly feeding really takes everything out of you. Hope you have at least one longer stretch at night???

RonelleB - As long as your baby is picking up weight on the growth chart with a steady line it should be fine (I think). Good to hear about the feedback about the Chiro!!

On our side things have been up and down. So many things to enjoy and appreciate every day, like those cute baby sounds and smiles!! Soft skin and velvety soft head...

On the down side, we are still battling with Oral thrush and have been having all sorts of random shooting pains in breasts making breastfeeding challenging to say the least. She isn't responding to the Daktarin gel anymore and doctors don't have any further advice...But she is gaining weight very well and all ready fits into 3 - 6 months clothes, although only 6,5 weeks old.

Had my 6 week checkup today and I feel actually just too depressed to talk about it, but let me try: In short I have a stage 3 (stage 4 being the worst) cervix prolapse. Not something most ladies share...so there you have it - I just broke the taboo of speaking about "apparently a very common side effect" of natural birth. I have never heard of this complication after child birth and am seriously shocked and sobered by the severity of the long term effects on my life. I wish I could just say, "I just need to give it time" it is only 6 weeks post-partum, but the Dr. confirmed today that this isn't going to go away magically and that I will be healed. My pelvic floor suffered damage and it is affecting all areas down there.
Dr. recommended seeing a physio for exercises to "improve" the situation, but ultimately it seems as if I am "broken" down there for the rest of my life. Dr. says that it will improve in about a years time but with time it will worsen again (garanteed). I still don't know if it is so common why I have never heard or read about it anywhere. I have heard about bladder problems after child birth, but this is another ballgame.

I was prepared for more sagging breasts and stretch marks with baby no. 2, not having my cervix fall out of my VJ at age 36. I am going to need some time to digest all of this. Sorry for freaking out all the pregnant fairies reading this.

Can't wait to read how everyone else is doing, it has been so long since I heard from a lot of you!!! xx

Hi mommies!

At last 5 minutes with both hands free that I can use to post here...

Nels_how are you doing? It seems you're taking strain. Hope you're feeling better soon so you'll have energy for the babes.
Gloei_any news from that specialist yet? How's baby doing?
Starry_i keep seeing you're adjusting so well, being out and about... remembering your struggles in the last month and for you they're long forgotten! Well done baby looks dashing!
Newbie_i can see you're totally focussed on your time with your little princess, she's so petit!
Faffy_we chat now n again, just wanted to say hats off to you! You're still glowing, you're taking all this in your stride, I keep that in mind when feeling a bit down.

On my side all is ticking away. Baby is 4 wks tomorrow, had our weigh in yesterday and she's gained a full kilo since birth. Guess I shouldn't worry about that too much. We had some struggles with feeding and routines but we learn and try different things to see what works for us. I am recovering ok, my lower abdomen still hurts though...oh and I know I shouldn't but I am driving again. Had to drive baby to clinic and chiro. Chiro works well for her by the way, i'd recommend it for your little ones.

I still have a very flabby and big "boep"... want to start exercising but I just dont see where new mommies find the time (especially if you have a little one constantly feeding or sleeping in your arms)?

Oh, and like Faffy said we should not deny: i was diagnosed with post partum depression a week ago, taking the meds now and feeling a bit better. Less overwhelmed and "helpless". Haven't cried in 4 days! The sleep deprivation and being 'cut off' from the real world still gets to me but I'm counting down days, focussing on time passing and the hope that things will get better and as my mom always says "nothing in life lasts forever".

Anyway, Laila's waking up for her next feed (sleeping 10 mins was a victory!). Gotta dash. Hope to hear from you soon.

PS: Gloei...are you still going to change group name?
