Good morning Ladies!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines weekend!!

A belated Happy Valentines to you all!

Thanks Meags. Yes everybody says I should go to the hospital, but I really don't feel the need. Occasionally I keep something down. I have some watered down powerade that I slushie late at night, so I figure that gives me some energy as well.

put a whole new perspective on the next pregnancy.
i dont think you should worry about the supplements. baby takes the best out of your body and will do so even if you don't get anything in for a while.

Dearhel, so glad baba is doing well. holding thumbs that the placenta will move well out of the way and all will be well later on.

Receptionists are the worst there!!!!!! They think they can answer questions that you want to ask the doctor!!

Your baby should still be fine even with the hyperemesis gravidarum. Remember they are SO tiny at the moment that in fact they really don't require much!

Sometimes one is hospitalised for a day or two to get IV fluids to rehydrate. But mostly it's just a very unpleasant experience for the mom and baby still thrives!

Wow that's great re: costs being covered. I'm sure here in SA it's lekker expensive!

No scan before then, I can't recall now why I only had my first scan so late.... I was still thinking maybe we'd get a glimpse at the sex.

I remember calling in at 8 weeks and wanting to speak to doc about heavy training I was doing. Receptionist was so rude and said to me: if IT hasn't come out by now, it won't come out. Wouldn't let me speak to doc.

I hate how receptionists try to be the doctor. It's a common problem here I feel.

Doc said I had good strong heartbeat at last scan...and chances are slim for a MC after a strong heartbeat.... not sure it's wise for him to make comments like that, but hoping he is right.

Meags with my hyperemesis blah blah blah.... you think baby gets nutrition even if I am keeping down almost nothing? I'm so worried about that. Gynae doens't seem worried. Just gives me scripts for expensive anti nausea meds that don't work all the time.

Placenta previa cannot be diagnosed before 28 weeks!! Almost all placentas are low lying to begin with and that also accounts for unexplained bleeding/spotting in the first trimester as the placenta is over the cervix.
Sure, if by 28 weeks the placenta is still covering or near the placenta, you will most likely need the caesarean. Baby cutting off their own food supply due to this condition is a load of nonsense.

(For those who don't know, I am a midwife and hence will most likely give my medical opinion on these things )

So to conclude, ignore what he's telling you for at least the next 4 months. Lol!

I knew i shouldn't stress and now you've confirmed it.

I do wonder sometimes if the dr's don't exaggerate sometimes.

Ah well, as long as baby is healthy, there's no need to worry at all.

Oh and thanks Simone! That's very reassuring. I'll be 33 in March btw. 3rd pregnancy, my girls are 13 & 11.

Simone, that sounds very traumatic, am very happy that this pregnancy is going well and will continue to go well.
