Omg Simone that sounds so traumatic :( I am so sorry!!!! Molar pregnancies are very dangerous. Had you not had any scans before the 12 weeks??

IUI can be costly. But in France it is 100% covered (as well as 2 rounds of IVF should we have needed to go that route)

BAngie I'm sure doc would have told you if there was reason to worry. I'm sure everything is fine! I'm having my downs scan at 14 weeks. I think 12 weeks may just be a tad too early. They are very strict here that it is done after 13w and before 14 weeks for some reason.

Daerhel I had a placenta previa and I believe there is a chance it can still shift up until 30 weeks or so. Mine never shifted, but thankfully I had no serious complications and no bleeding during pregnancy. Just don't over exert yourself and don't pick up heavy objects ;)

I'm the old lady of the group...34!! he he

Bellyhearts...so exciting finding out the sex!!! Before you know it Monday will be here....*whoop*

Hi ladies

Thanks for the welcome!

Am miserable today...have kept nothing down for 24hrs now again. So worried as I've been unable to take vitamins or anything. Doc scheduled my scans 6w apart...so I am just hoping baby is okay at this stage. 1st or 4th pregnancy...I think they are all stressful!

Meags so our dates are similar :) is that IUI an expensive route?

Ayesha glad to hear you have an active baby.

StellaK....I'm sure you will manage. We adapt to our situations! Maybe 2nd baby will be the best sleeper to make up for the 1st one. By the time number 1 hits 2 I am sure bad sleeping will be a thing of the past! So rest assured....this will pass!

My MC was in my 12th week. The MC itself was sad...but then 2 weeks after the D&C I started bleeding...heavily. I was changing undies and pads every hour. But what is with us women...thinking we don't want to make a fuss?

After 24hrs my mom insisted hubby take me to the doc. When i got there it was literally a bloodbath. The blood started pouring down my legs....pieces of liver it looked like (TMI sorry). Did a scan and my tummy was full of masses.

They admitted me. I was scheduled for 5pm...but after 2 pethadine shots, me feeling like I'm giving birth to blood...and my BP dropping they rushed me to surgery. I woke up and the nurse looked so worried...said I lost so much blood. When the doc came to see me he was white...and also told me I lost too much blood and possibly needed a blood transfusion. He said we'd do tests and discuss it the next morning. He also diagnosed a molar pregnancy which is another scary thing all on it's own....

I had my LG's birthday the next day...I didn't have time for a blood transfusion. I opted for iron treatment and promised bed rest. Which I didn't do...crashed after her party, but then took a week off to recover.

It was terribly traumatic for me...more so than the MC...almost dying. And immediately when we found out I was pregnant....my husband wasn't excited. I didn't know why until he told me he was scared he could lose me.

So this pregnancy is full of different emotions at this stage. I think at my next scan...I may start to feel a bit better.

Daerhel I often wonder where these gynaes study!!!
Placenta previa cannot be diagnosed before 28 weeks!! Almost all placentas are low lying to begin with and that also accounts for unexplained bleeding/spotting in the first trimester as the placenta is over the cervix.
Sure, if by 28 weeks the placenta is still covering or near the placenta, you will most likely need the caesarean. Baby cutting off their own food supply due to this condition is a load of nonsense.

(For those who don't know, I am a midwife and hence will most likely give my medical opinion on these things :silly: )

So to conclude, ignore what he's telling you for at least the next 4 months. Lol!

BAngie, your baby's EDD will vary each visit. Usually a few days ahead or early. But the most accurate date is the one from your first scan so just stick to that. My son's EDD was 27 March and he often measured small and even now at 4 years old is petit for his age. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with him :)

Morning Ladies and welcome Simone!

So glad that all the appointments went well! I love seeing the scans, it's such a reminder of what an unbelievable mirracle these babies are.

Daerhel, sounds like baby is a rebel already, lol! Your attitude towards the situation is amazing. :)

Simone, my husband and I are expecting our first baby, I'm 27 and husband is 28 baby's due date is 4th of August. I am 16 weeks along now and my next appointment is on Monday, we are REALLY holding thumbs that we get to see the gender :)

Good Morning Ladies!!

Welcome Simone! So sorry about your MC, hope all goes well in this pregnancy for you.

BAngie, don't stress too much. I'm sure if there was anythig wrong they would tell you.
As I found out yesterday, stressing just makes something seem that much worse than it actually is!

My app was yesterday morning. And as I just said, what a stressful one it was!!
DR was doing the sonar, checked baby's size, just over 7cm, weight 79g. EDD is now somewhere between 12th and 18th August.
Baby did not want to lie still! What a little busybody! Dr said it looks like a boy, but he's only 60% sure, so we'll wait till next time and see.
Both mommy and baby are both nicely healthy.

Now I think he's done, but he keeps looking beneath baby, where I'm sure the bladder lies (which is now so full I feel like crying everytime he presses on it)!
"hmm.." he says, and looks about some more, and I'm thinking UHOH what now??
For almost 5 minutes he keeps probing and looking and hmmmm'ing, till I can take it no more and ask What's wrong??
Now I'm stressing, what has he seen? what's wrong?

Eventually he tells us that my placenta is too low, roughly 0.5 to 1cm above the cervix.
I'm all like, ok well that doesn't sound too bad.
So I get him to explain a bit more.
Basically just means I have Placenta Previa, baby is lying ontop of the placenta, instead of other way round.
Not a problem now, but if it doesn't move as the womb grows, baby may end up cutting off his food supply.
It also means that if the placenta stays above the cervix, I will have to have a C-Section, as the placenta will be blocking baby's way out.

I'm not gonna stress. As long as baby is healthy, that's good.

Here's a little pic too. Terrible busybody wouldn't lie still, so we didn't get nice pics this time. lol

*sigh* thanks ladies...

Lol sorry Meags, I thought you're new...

My first ultrasound was on 24 Jan & Gynae told me that I was 9 weeks along and due 29 August. Yesterday I noticed that my EDD has changed to 27 August so I guess I am at 12 weeks now.

He printed me a scan ( I see a difference looking at the 9 week scan and this 12 week scan) & didn't charge me for the consultation though :)

Okay maybe I am stressing over nothing (this is my 1st pregnancy)
