Hi Wideyed, I tried benetts sunscreen for when baby was a under two years, they even have a mozzie stick that's sensitive for their skin. Thereafter there are a whole range of sunscreens once they get older.

As for maternity pads, Carriwell really does have a good product that helps for the first two weeks of heavy bleeding and then always the ultra night one should be fine until it slows down.

@ Prenessa, Edgars also sells Playtex maternity bra's they were reasonably priced and very comfortable, in case you still looking :-)

Thanks ladies
These forums are so helpful
I went to Woolies now and their bra's are much more comfortable then the carriwell. Guess I will need to return the ones I bought. The wollies ones are also much cheaper.

hi there ladies!

feels like i haven't been on here in ages! trying to catch up on all the convo topics..

firstly i had a good weekend, was my birthday the saturday, but spent the majority of my time nursing DH who had man-flu! but at least i ate enough cake not to be too disappointed :) Angie, at my last scan i asked my doctor about flu vaccine, and she said we are actually the prime candidates to get them! thank goodness i got it the past week, otherwise i'd probably be in bed now.

im in cape town, so no baby expo for me. the cpt mama magic is only happening in November, so a bit too late for buying stuff before he arrives. but I'm sure there will be some nice specials that i'll still take advantage of. Babaindaba is in cot the 1st weekend of august, so may go to that one & buy the last minute things.

Regarding the nursing bras - i've already bought a pack from woolies and wear it almost everyday already. very comfy as there's no underwire. unfortunately they've become too small for me in the past 2 weeks, so will have to go buy another pack.

I'm not looking forward to the maternity pads and just pads in general. I've been using tampons since high school days. Will just have to take it as it comes I guess.

Just to let you ladies know, if you're going to try out pampers new/active baby on your little ones - dischem has them on special at the moment for R160. I bought 2 packs today, one size 2 and the other size 3. Registered my due date with them at the same time, so hopefully i'll be getting my baby bag soon as well!

Lol Angie, think I'll be avoiding that scale for the next 3 months too... It's like a dragon staring at me every time I go into the bathroom!

Not sure about the flu vaccine. I never get one, as they always make me terribly ill. Last one I had was about 5 years ago and I ended up in hospital with pleurisy, and my lungs started filling with fluid. So I avoid the flu shots like the plague.
I have heard that it's ok, but I think you should check with your dr first, just to be sure.

Thanks for the advice on bottles and pads Stella.
I was looking at Avent's bottles. Someone recommended them but can't remember who. They have a nice starter pack of 2 small 2 large and a bottle brush. That'd be enough to begin with as I'd prefer to breastfeed, but thought I'd better get bottles just in case. I know they'll be used anyway later on when little one starts drinking other things besides milk.

Still not decided on the maternity leave thing...
After all the stress they've been putting me through at work last week and today... I was literally in tears earlier on, had even typed up a resignation letter. Didn't send it tho. Closed my office door and just had a good cry before carrying on.
Honestly, having 2 men as bosses is so difficult when you're pregnant. They just don't seem to understand that everything feels 10 times worse, especially when you're so emotional all the time.

but here are an interesting article that you can try out:
www.mommypotamus.com/natural-remedies-fo...ary-tract-infection/

other things i just saw:
avoid sugar and sugar rich foods
an estrogen vaginal cream (i dont know if this is ok while pregnant)
get a pregnancy tea - it has 'nettles' in which can help
lots and lots of water
cranberry juice

maybe just phone your gynie as well
