hi there ladies,

had a lot to catch up on.

with the bra's you should buy 2 sizes bigger in my opinion. when your milk comes in, your boobs are huge. and will be very big for some time.
most maternity bras have extra hooks, so no need to buy a bigger waist size.
you can also buy bra extender pieces from wollies to make the waist bigger

Dearhel, that is not nice at all.
i hope all our babies will stay put and be full term babies.

i also haven't booked my bed yet. but i am still deciding on rather going the midwife route. i would love the midwife setup, but my concern is 1. the midwifes are far from our house and traveling while in labour was torture for me. the hospital is 5 min from our house. 2. what if something goes wrong... if there should be complications i want to be in the hospital where they can act immediately and have my own gynie there that i know
so its a bit of a tough decision for me

me 35, DH 39

still looking for the article about pain relief.. however if you want to read a very nice edition with good articles buy the "your baby" of May / June 2015. It includes articles about cloth nappies and where to get them, how to breastfeed beyond the first year, etc.. I have it electronic but can't post it cause I still don't know how to post pics :( I can perhaps email the articles to you? let me know through private msg..

Wow - that's quite silly.. haha. Goodluck with the decision ahead. can't be easy.

I just booked my bed online. the medical aid gave me an authorisation number so I completed the online submission form - so tick, done! If you are making use of a Medi Clinic, you can also do it online.
Are there any documentation apart from id book that we need to have on hand with our hosp bag?

Wide-eyed. I read in one of the baby books (i'll have to check for you which one..) about the different types of labour, reasons why C-section is better (certain circumstances) and the pain relief options. let me search. i'll post it here asap.

Too many things Ctelly!

I can only book my bed from 32 weeks... end of June. The company I work for require a copy of the booking before they'll accept my maternity leave letter... Silly. I mean it's not like you can't see I'm pregnant. Really it's like they see the bump coming before they see me!!
Tho like I said a few posts ago, I'm still considering my options after the way they've been treating me the last few weeks. I honestly don't know if I want to come back here...
But I also plan on finishing at the end of July. That should give me at least 2 to 3 weeks to rest. Praying little S decides to stay put to term and not come sooner! :silly:

Thanks Daerhel.. i'll read the article and watch this space for more comments or tips on the matter :) can't believe there's so many things to think of when getting a new baby.. I guess its much easier with the second child. We now only need to buy some diapers and medical stuff (bum cream, first aid kit) then little Alexander can come, but will first see what I get from the baby shower and I assume my colleagues will also surprise me with a shower. My husband works with ladies - so they also decided to have a baby shower for him (so sweet!) I though i'll start packing my hospital bag mid July.. should be fine if Baby decides to come earlier? Just sent through my maternity leave forms. I'll be on leave from end July until end January. Still need to fill in the UIF forms and book my bed (so many things to think off..)

Hi Ctelly,

Just a note on buying bra's - make sure when you try one on it's clipped at the tightest hook and still comfortable. Triumph has a maternity bra with 6 rows of hooks so you can let it out by one hook per month from 3/4 months. Haven't found it yet though. It may be worth waiting until you outgrow your current bra before buying more in advance, though a friend with a new baby has advised me that you will use all the ones you have - some as you increase in size and your milk comes in, some as you decrease again when you start weaning. Bra extenders are also useful for as long as the cup is still a comfy size (if you can find them - I got a couple with two bras I bought)

Thanks Simone, I'll stock up on more Always then, they're definitely the most comfortable option.

Anyone have thoughts on pain relief during labour? (I know this is controversial, so no judgement from me on any recommendations, I just feel under informed and my ante-natal classes haven't been as helpful as I'd hoped)
